The Sierra kids foundation provides educational scholarships to children and youth with developmental disabilities in Northern Nevada, specifically kids with autism spectrum disorder. The Sierra kids foundation helps families who are under insured, low-income, unemployed, or of low socioeconomic status pay for ABA therapy for their child who may not be able to afford a treatment program otherwise. This year’s event featured a Reno vs Northern California format, pitting schools from each area against each other. The event also featured several quality big men. In this article, we take a look at some of the top Bigs from the event.
Anderson is a face up four type that plays hard. He was at his best when he could attack in downhill situations, however he did try to use a little wiggle on some occasions. His competitive nature is what I liked most about him, as he was willing to use his power frame to bang. The 6’6 junior is a decent athlete that played above the rim a coulpe of times in transition.
Highlights
Nathan Schnell

Someone at the college level can use a player like Schnell. A high academic big, he is a diligent rim runner with decent finishing ability. He prefers to turn over his left shoulder and finish with his strong hand, but he also turned over the right one. Not suprisingly, he has a high IQ, and made some timely passes out of both the low and high post.
For whatever reason, Douglas has a plethora of bigs and Tolbert was one of them. He has a strong frame, and is at his best when he was banging away against other big men. He showed decent hands as well, both catching the ball, and using his large mits to palm the ball, when completing dunks.
Reid was a bundle of activity. He ran the floor, rebounded in traffic and still found time to finish around the rim. He’s a decent rim protector as well, blocking a couple of shots this weekend. He was strong in the Tigers opening game against Birmingham, finishing with 10 points in the contest.
Epperson was one of the top sleepers at the event. He’s athletic and has a solid skill level. He averaged less than 5 points per game as a sophmore, but has remarkably improved from last season. I liked how he ran the floor and his ability to face up and score. The 6’7 four man hit a three and scored on some downhill drives, contributing in both of Marauders wins this weekend.
Cade Petersen
Cade Petersen
Petersen reminds me of a lot of the former Folsom players that were undersized post men. He is a terrific athlete, and he showed it off by floating to the rim on one dunk attempt. He ran the floor well, and showed the ability to complete plays around the rim in transition. Like a lot of the aforementioned Folsom players, he did a good job of facing up and attacking the rim off the bounce.
