In this piece we take a closer look at the players who jumped on our radar after strong performances from Saturday’s action.
Diego Saucedo, 2023, Norco
Saucedo proved to be a high motor and versatile wing/forward whose impact for Norco stretches to every stat category and beyond. The 6-foot-5 senior is a versatile scorer, complete with catch-and-shoot range to the three point line, ability to put the ball on the deck and attack straight-line driving lanes for paint finishes and is an active slasher and finisher in transition. Saucedo’s ability to rebound in and out of his area and defend multiple positions is crucial for Norco’s small lineup to be successful.
Jackson Cain, 2026, Colony
Each season, the Titans seem to have an influx of freshman talent and Cain is one of those types of players. The 5-foot-11 guard showed off his poise and high basketball IQ as starter on what should be a very good Colony team. Cain can do a little bit of everything as a “dribble, pass, shoot” player whose on-court maturity is well beyond his years. Cain finished with nine points and a couple of rebounds and assists in the Titans’ win over Riverside Hillcrest.
Joseph Riggins, 2026, Colony
Riggins is the second part of Colony’s promising freshman duo and his biggest impact on the game right now is his shooting ability. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard has a ton of confidence from behind-the-arc and has the blessing of the Colony coaching staff to pull those open threes. Riggins has fundamental shooting form an deep range on his jumper.
Kenneth Bailey, 2023, Crean Lutheran
Bailey is just a solid all-around player for the Saints. The 6-foot-2 combo guard has the ball handing and passing IQ to initiate offense as the primary decision-maker, can use his size, strength and physicality to expose mismatches and score in the lane through contact and is a good downhill decision-maker in transition. A lot of the publicity goes to his talented younger brother, 2026 guard Kaiden Bailey, but Kenneth is the key to Crean Lutheran’s league and playoff success this season. He finished with 15 points in the Saints win over Oak Hills.
Nick Lundy, 2023, Mira Costa
Lundy had an impressive scoring performance in Mira Costa’s win over Diamond Bar, putting up a team-high 21 points. The 6-foot-3 senior has an unorthodox style of play as his skill-set is more of an interior one and his frame and strength allow him to have success inside despite being a sort of undersized four-man. Lundy can knock down face-up jumpers, put the ball on the floor and bully his way for paint buckets and even knocked down a catch-and-shoot three.
