Starting with the Prep School Division on Dec 16th the event runs all the way until the Finals of the Platinum division on Dec 22nd. Best thing about the event is the fact that it has different brackets, allowing teams to compete against comparable competition. Here’s a look at some of the top Point Guards from the event.
Thomas was so good that you almost come to expect him to be brilliant every time out. His toughness is what stood out, he took a beating in a Platinum bracket game against Rainer Beach, but not only did he survive, he thrived. Thomas showed an elite ability to play through contact, getting to the rim, and finishing at a high level.
Highlights
Democracy Prep employes a full court high pressure style, which suits Stroughter perfectly, The long armed, aggressive PG was able to get steals and defelctions, turning them into easy transition buckets. Stoughters, strength and defensive prowless made him one of the top PG’s in his bracket.
Coleman is one of the best mid range shooters in the state. That’s not an eval, it’s a fact. He is automatic from 15, showing a nice, consistent smooth release. When he wasn’t knocking down mid range shoots, the PG showed the ability to defend as well as create for teammates.
Highlights
Simpson made it simple. The PG played the position well, showing the ability to organize the offense, and get teammates invloved. He passed the ball at a high level, and showed that he could be trusted to protect the ball and create for his teammates.
Fabello is a blend of a scoring PG and a pure floor general. He showed that he can create for his teammates, however, his ability to shoot it and finish around the rim were big time. Fabello has the speed and quickness, to be a schloarship athlete at some level, and he showed why this week.
Lolo Rudolph
Lolo Rudolph
There was a lot to like about Rudolph, he played with a great pace. He knew how to get to his spot and was effective when he got there. Rudolph has knock down shooting ability as well, as handle and wiggle. A good passer, with terific vision, was able to get his teammates open shots when he wasn’t getting into the lane hitting his.
Gurske is an elite paint touch getter that was impossible to stay in front of. He has schloarship level speed and quickness, and was able to get his shot off whenever he wanted. Gurske showed the ability to shoot it from three, as well as breakdown opponents and finish at the rim.

Elliot Fenderson
Elliot Fenderson
I was really impressed by Fenderson. The PG was one of the best passers that I saw at the event. He had good anticipation skills, throwing several teammates open for easy baskets. He shot the ball well, making several threes in catch and shoot situations. Fenderson’s game wasn’t conventional, but it was extremely effective, as he showed a terrific all around offensive skill set.
Bevacqua is one of the top players in 2A, but after watching him play this weekend, you can take the Division out of it. Meadows played against some good 4A competition and Bevacqua showed that not only can he compete, but that he can excel. The PG hit timely threes, many from deep range, and showed a slick handle and wiggle.
Morris wins the award for fasters player with the basketball in his hands. He was an absolute blur, changing ends of the court in seconds. Needless to say, the PG was able to put immediate pressure on the defense, breaking down defenders and either finishing or dishing to open teammates.
