There were multiple teams and coaches in attendance, and tons of talent we already knew about and tons of under the radar talent as well. Here’s a look at part one of the standouts from the event.
Ugo Pariette | 6’6” WF | Xima Prep 2023
Pariette was very impressive for Xima Prep, and is an under the radar prospect that coaches should consider looking at as he has a lot of tools that check the boxes for the next level and still has a lot of room to get better too. At 6’6” he has a strong build and terrific positional size, he gets downhill and uses that frame to finish well in traffic and he can step out and make shots from deep. He’s an aggressive player on both ends of the floor and impacts the game across the board.
Rob Perez | 6’2” PG | LA Premier Black 2023
Perez was one of the most impressive guards that was at the event, as he’s highly skilled and cerebral and makes winning plays on a regular basis. While he isn’t the most athletic guy he changes speeds and directions well with a tight handle to get to spots, he’s an excellent shooter who can knock down shots from deep off the catch or off the bounce and he is a natural leader and playmaker as well. He’s the type of guard that winning programs at all levels have.
Uchizi Mwale | 6’7” PF | TMG Prep 2023
Mwale is still somewhat of a project, but he showed a lot of potential and had flashes of brilliance for a TMG Prep team that has a lot of under the radar prospects. At 6’7” he may be a little undersized but he makes up for that with his strength and length, he’s an explosive leaper who had some big time finishes above the rim and he plays with a terrific motor on both ends of the floor.
Higgy Katoa | 6’1” PG | TMG Prep 2023
Katoa was one of the most fun players to watch, as he doesn’t look like he will cook you but he showed multiple times that he can get a bucket against the best of them. At 6’1” he understands how to use his body to create space, he makes really tough shots in the midrange and he has a command of the game and knows where he can score it and does so with ease even on the most difficult of shots.
Elijah Edwards | 6’5” WF | LA Premier White 2023
Edwards is another under the radar guy for the other LA Premier post grad team, and he was fantastic in their win over TMG Prep as he brought it on both ends of the floor and put up big numbers in an efficient way. The 6’5” lefty made shots from deep off the catch with consistency, he attacked in transition and in isolation situations to get downhill and finish and he’s a very good rebounder and defender for his position too.
Ngowth Gwath | 6’10” C | Veritas Prep 2024
Gwath was one of the most impressive long term prospects at the event, as the 6’10” big man is just scratching the surface with how good he can be and he was still the best player on the floor in Veritas’ game. He’s a lanky big man with long arms that he uses to rebound and get deflections, he runs the floor well and can make plays in transition and possibly the most intriguing part about his game is his ability to step outside and knock down shots from deep and from the elbows.
