SubscribeThe new Prephoops Nevada rankings have been released. This is our deepest class to date, featuring 100 prospects. One of the best part of rankings is watching players earn their way up the ladder. In this article, we take a look at the top Rankings Stock Risers.
13↑10 Castilero who was recently named one of the state’s top 5 shooters has lived up to the billing so far on the season averaging almost 9 points per game while knocking down exacly half his threes on the season. His combination of skill, accuracy and brains has allowed him to rise into the top 10 of the rankings.
17↑12 Whittle had a big jump in the rankings after getting off to a fast start on the season. It’s his skill that has given him a bump as his back to the basket scoring ability could be a valuable asset to the correct program. His 14 and 8 per night back up his stockrising.
20↑13 Recently saw Rhymes during my Bishop Gorman Team Preview, and liked how he competed against some of the top players in the state. Highly skilled guard has the size and athleticism to play somewhere after high school.
24↑15 It will be interesting to see how good Porter looks once he’s 100% in basketball shape. As it is, the gridiron star is currently contributing to the defending state champs on a nightly basis against good competition, hence his rankings rise.
26↑16 I saw Max last this Fall during the Chosen Few Labor Day Tournament. He was good then, but has been even better since the season started. The PG has been shooting the ball lights out knocking down over 50% of his threes on the season. His overall play and the impact that it has had on a success of the team are reasons enough to see him rise.
23↑18 Reid established himself as one of the bigs that the state champs will be counting on. Athletic, long armed glue guy has made his move in the rankings because of the value he brings to a winning squad.
35↑21 Ned is one of the feel good stories of the season. The PG has been a breakout player for Spring Valley, who lost their top two guards early in the season. The PG has responded tremendously, putting together a 26 point effort and a victory in their first win, a week ago against Canyon Springs. His two way play has led to his rise in the rankings.
30↑23 It’s been a good month for Sherrard as he was recently named to the top snipers list. He’s backed up that accolade with a strong start to the season. The sharpshooter is averaging nearly 13ppg for the defending 4A state champs.
40↑24 Baltierrez is going to have me making a trip over to Basic. The confident shooter, has shown why he’s so confident. Baltierrez has already put together some big games going for 33 against Rancho. His season production has allowed him to see a rise in the rankings.
59↑51 Marquicias came down to the PrepHoops Expo last fall and flashed some game. He’s backed it up with a good start to the season putting up over 14 per game to start the season.
56↑52 Chambers saw a small boost in the rankings. I’ve had quite a few opportunities to watch him lately, and he’s impressed me in a couple of areas. I’ve always been big on his shooting, but his defense and finishing look improved. He rises thanks to those skills and his production during the season.
77↑63 Got a good look at Spencer last weekend, and it was clear that he was a much better player than his initial ranking. He has good positional size and showed that he is effective scoring around the rim, and creating for himself.
68↑64 Waldrop has been productive this season for the Wolves. The PG has increased his scoring numbers from a season ago, showing the ability to get to the rim,
86↑80 Durant’s rise in the rankings have correlated with his first season on varsity. The shooting guard has seen some minutes for the 4A contender.
