One. Panthers in Late Season Form. I commonly hear people say “you don’t want to play Lakeville North early in the season, they are always in late season form” and last night was such a great example of that. The Panther defense was outstanding, They are long everywhere and agile everywhere, and they kept that length on the Raptors at all times. East Ridge actually shot 20 of 50 from the field (before the JV came in) which isn’t horrible but the massive amount of turnovers combined with 40 percent shooting is what led to the 31 point loss. And the Lakeville North passing was outstanding. There aren’t many times that will hit timed cutters, and snap reversals, and post entry passes with this level of precision and timing in game one. Overall very impressive. We are all aware of the big name production (more on that in a moment) but the 13 first half points from

, all of it led to deep roster production.
Two. Lakeville North Badger Dominance. Yes, yes we are all aware that Lakeville and the University of Wisconsin may as well be connected as a feeder program. And those two future Badgers –

had 24 points with 13 rebounds on 11 of 13 shooting. He hit a three, moved off the ball to catch and dunk a couple times, his post up game dominated with great pivots and touched in scores, and Winter used the dribble to score a couple times too. Add in the defensive rebound dominance and it was a great game from Nolan. As for Jack, he had some early foul trouble but once he got on the court consistently in comfort he was excellent. Most of his eight makes (one miss) for 17 points were on the move to the basket. I love Jack’s halfcourt feel as a passer, as a cutter, and as a finisher within the flow. He also had five assists and eight boards.

. His ignition of the offense was outstanding leading to eight assists plus Matt made all his foul shots totaling ten points. The Panthers have their PG to make a run.
Four. Lone Bright Spot. About the only thing that went right for East Ridge was
Charlie Theis

. He came off the bench and brought much needed energy, much needed toughness, and desperately needed results. Theis likely played about 20 of the 36 minutes meaning he scored one point per minute and did it on 8 of 11 shooting. Theis is the one guy that brought toughness at the Panthers scoring through contact.
Five. More Panther D. A big number that has not left my head was the offensive numbers of the East Ridge starters. The Panthers held East Ridge’s first five to 10 of 34 shooting from the floor for a total of 29 points (just under a quarter of which game from the foul line). I don’t have the turnover numbers but those were massive as well.

who is a top freshmen in the state of Minnesota, he just had a rough opening game with seven points on 1 of 7 shooting and a number of turnovers. Tomes was the only underclassmen that played. Lakeville North doesn’t have an underclassmen on their varsity or JV roster right now. Tomes and Bennett Skinner are the frosh on the East Ridge V/JV roster (Skinner plays JV).
