Reaching their ceilings just means they haven’t grown into their full potential on the court as I’ve noticed growth in some aspects of their game.
The talent Devin has on the court is undeniable. He is a top player within the class and that won’t change. The one thing in my eyes that holds him back just a little is how deep this Curtis HS team really is. They could easily be one of the deepest teams within the entire state. Despite having a plethora of guards, Whitten’s talents are on display nightly. Whitten is an excellent deep shooter, knocking down the three from anywhere. One thing that stands out to me as well is his quick hands on defense, as well as his ability to finish through traffic and attacking the rim no matter who is in front of him.
I’ve written about Wright a couple times before but it’s hard not to include him in this article. He’s a beast down in the paint. He pulls down rebounds with ease, blocks shots effectively, and is just a big body who protects the rim well. Offensively, he strives in the pick and roll. He’s excellent at sealing his defenders and making sure his guard has a passing lane to get him the ball. If he was to consistently knock down the long range shot, he could very much be a top 5/10 player in the state.
Jacori has the skills and build to be a Division 1 basketball player. He plays alongside his brother, Juju, forming a massive twin tower combination that is hard to stop. He blocks shots very well and is a matchup nightmare nightly. He attacks the ball good and finished through contact well. He even shoots the ball very, very well for a 6’10” player.
Kofi has been off to a fairly slow start at his new school, Federal Way, but he is a player who can breakout and have a crazy game at any point. Peyton has an extremely high IQ on the court, often knowing his next move before he gets the ball. He catches the ball ready to attack but can knock down his mid-range and deep shots when needed. He’s great coming off a screen to shoot the ball just as he is with putting it on the floor and pulling up for a mid range shot.
