About Jacori
Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Ervin had another strong session to follow up his session one performance. His best game came on the final day against Team Durant. Ervin put up 19 points and eight rebounds, five of which came on the offensive end. He was a beast on the glass in session one and kept up his hard work chasing down boards that led to lots of second chance points and high percentage shots in the paint.

Ervin reclassed to the 2025 class to showcase his insane leading ability. During his high school career, he showed off his offensive versatility, which includes shooting behind the arc and a respectable handle for the position. With Rotary, he’s a rim-running, rebound-grabbing 6’11 4/5. He has head above the rim athleticism, rebounds balls at their peak, and contributes to scoring on the break and offensive glass.

Jacori is a freak athlete for his frame at 6’11”. He makes electric highlight plays, being able to out jump opposing players and dunk on them, bringing energy for his whole squad. His IQ for the game has grown a lot and it showed this season. He made his footwork more steady down low and he knows which moves to use in what situations. Whatever school lands him is getting a gem.

Ervin does a lot of his damage around the rim and he kept that up last week against Cheney. He continues to show improved post play and understanding of how to attack defenders with different moves. One play in particular stood out when he stepped through a double team down low, kept the ball high while splitting defenders, and finished through contact for the and-one. And while his play in the paint is generally what gets the attention, it was his 3-point shooting that stepped up in this one. He knocked down at least four triples I saw, stepping into a couple and hitting another off the dribble.

This was a great test for Ervin going against one of the biggest frontcourts in the state;

(6-foot-10). Ervin’s best separator was getting guys to bite on fakes or facing up and ripping through. He also did a good job rim-running in transition and had a few nice defensive plays. All in all, there’s still some development needed with his post-game, but he did show some good flashes.

Prev Rank: 12 (+2)rnThis guy looks better and better every time I see him. He’s come a long way from just a year ago and still has a lot of potential left to tap in to. Ervin continues to improve around the hoop, incorporating more post moves, better footwork, and a nose for the ball coming off of the rim. He’s still improving the outside shot, free throws, and the ability to take big men off the dribble from the perimeter, but it’s his defensive ability that really stands out and an improved motor has helped him get in the right spots to be a more effective player.
