Summary: Lafayette is very talented and young that will surprise a lot of teams this season. Was impressed how hard and unselfish they played. Have 3 or 4 guys that can really score it but was most impressed with how well they shared it. Surratt will likely be one of the best players in the region as only a freshman. Teams will not want to get in a track meet with them as they were really good in transition. The lack of experience may hurt them at times throughout the season but will be hard to find many teams that has the talent level they have.
Surratt is a very smooth, high IQ player. Can tell the game comes naturally to him. Has great feel in pick and rolls both to score and pass. One of the best passers I’ve seen in the state thus far. Can score at all three levels. Would like to see him be more aggressive offensively to score, but liked how he facilitated to get guys easy looks. As he gets stronger and grows, could be a very good prospect at the next level. Only a freshman.
Highlights
Jayd Huynh
Jayd Huynh
Came away impressed with Huynh. Good shooter from distance, especially off the catch. Threat anytime he can get his feet set. Sprinted the floor hunting shots. Opened the floor up a lot for them with his shooting ability but also very unselfish. Nice touch around the rim on drives.
Eli Thomas
Eli Thomas
Thomas can play both on and off ball. Primary ball handler for them, does a great job getting guys involved. Sets the pace for them and did a good job getting them into offense. Did all the little things offensively that you like to see – cut hard, made easy plays, made shots when open. Good shooter when given time. Has 3pt range.
Emanuel Brandomma
Emanuel Brandomma
Brandomma plays both forward / center for Lafayette and handles most of the post defense. Does most of his damage on the boards getting putbacks or kicking out to open shooters. Brings a ton of energy for them.
Jack Ackerman
Jack Ackerman
Ackerman holds the paint down for them defensively. Big and strong and does a pretty good job defending in the post using his strength. Offensively can put the ball on the floor from the mid post. Did a good job carving out space around the basket.
Xavier Harmon
Xavier Harmon
Harmon is a quick guard that did a good job getting to the paint consistently. High motor that did a great job on defense getting deflections and pressuring the ball. Could play his way into a bigger role as the season goes on.
