When it comes to players wanting to play at the next level the platform is important. Playing in front of the right coaches is important. Utah has had players come and go with a lot of talent, not all Division 1 players but players that can play at the next level and beyond.
Players like Yoeli Childs who was big time D1 player at BYU and has had stints on various teams in the NBA’s G-League. Frank Jackson (Duke) who has played on the New Orleans Pelicans and Detroit Pistons. Sam Merrill (Utah State) who is currently on the Sacramento Kings.
Then you have excellent high school players that found a home at the next level and are playing overseas. Tyus Jefferson who played at Herriman and Alberta College has been playing well in Greece professionally. Brandon Sly (Riverton) has been a main stay overseas as well. Brandon played at Adams State. The list goes on and on.
This brings us to platforms like the Utah Top 50 and the Great Western Classic as well as Hoop Hall Tournaments that have brought talent from across the country to play against some of the best players in Utah. It has really created a platform in-state for players to be seen.
Recently players have been getting offers as they have had additional looks from college coaches either in person or via Live Streams. With more and more players getting offers as the COVID back-log has slowly gone away these Utah players are taking advantage of the platform.
