Players across the state are looking forward to put up big numbers this winter, especially on the perimeter. Here are the 2024 wings set to explode in 2022-23.
Zack Davis Zack Davis 6'7" | SF Peddie | 2024 State NJ , 6’7 SF Peddie
Davis is an intriguing prospect to watch in the Garden State as he can play on the wing and in the post. The 6’7 wing has a smooth release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Davis can also put the ball on the floor and has a nice touch around the basket. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is a strong rebounder. Davis’s ability to stretch the floor and finish around the basket is something that will help his stock in a big way this winter.
Kobi Johnson, 6’5 SG Olympus Prep
Johnson will most likely play in the backcourt at the next level, but he also has the potential to play on the wing. The 6’5 wing has a good handle, which he uses to get to the rim and is a strong finisher around the basket. Johnson knows how to get to his spot on the floor and rises up nicely on his jumper. He is an underrated passer and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Johnson will be one to watch in South Jersey with his ability to get to the rim and finish.
LJ Falconi LJ Falconi 6'5" | SG St Marys Rutherford | 2025 NLG , 6’4 SG St. Mary’s Rutherford
Falconi had a good summer with the NJ Panthers, which should translate into a big junior season. The 6’4 wing is a marksman from deep as he has a quick release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Falconi knows how to move without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open jumpers and layups. He makes plays on the defensive end and works hard on the glass. Falconi dropped a career-high 27 points against North Arlington last season and should have multiple 20-point games in 2022-23.
John Kelly, 6’3 SF Watchung Hills
Kelly made plays all summer for Hoop Heaven Hawks Elite and it should carry over into the winter. The 6’3 wing has a smooth shooting stroke and sets his feet before every shot. Kelly has an underrated handle as he can get to the rim from the perimeter and is a solid finisher around the basket. He rarely makes bad decisions with the ball in his hands and is an underrated defender. Kelly should get more touches on the offensive end this season for Watchung Hills, which should help his stock in a big way.
Hass Cannon Hass Cannon 6'4" | SG Hamilton West | 2024 State NJ , 6’4 SF Hamilton West
Cannon should make a big impact with the Hornets this season after he transferred in from another Mercer County school. The Ewing transfer is at his best attacking the basket as he knows how to get to the rim and is a strong finisher in the paint. Cannon is unafraid of contact and is capable of knocking down open jumpers on the perimeter. He works hard on the defensive end and is an underrated rebounder. Cannon is a gritty wing prospect who should make plays on both ends of the floor for Hamilton West.
