TJ Nadeau 6-5 2024 Detroit Catholic Central As Prep Hoops gets ready to host its first Freshmen showcase tomorrow. Here is the walking (or leaping) reminder of why those early evaluations can be so difficult. When I first saw Nadeau as a rising middle schooler. I thought he had the potential to be an intriguing long term stretch four. A few short years later you can scrap that. Nadeau is a legitimate next level two guard prospect. Has an extremely skilled all around game. Uses excellent footwork to create space on the perimeter. Has a smooth easy release from beyond the arc. Good court vision and a willing passer. The remnants of a post game are still there as he operates well in the high post. Had my favorite dish of the day. A clever behind the back look to a cutter while on the low block. Tested himself on the Adidas circuit this summer with Midwest Basketball Club. Should step into a featured role with a Shamrock unit that loses a decent chunk from last years squad.
Warren Marshall IV Warren Marshall IV 6'3" | SF Brother Rice | 2024 State MI 6-4 2024 Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice(pictured) Sticking in the the ridiculously deep Detroit Catholic League. Marshall showed why Brother Rice is one favorites to make a deep run in Division 1. If a player of Marshall’s caliber is possibly your fourth option? You have some serious talent. Showed off his explosiveness in the open court all day. Easily makes plays well above the rim. In addition to multiple dunks. Had a highlight reel spin move and finish in transition late in the day. Coming off a good summer with DTO Elite on the Under Armour circuit. Wrapped up his day with an unofficial visit to nearby Grand Valley St. Already holds an offer from Wayne St. I would anticipate more in the next two years.
Merritt Alderink Merritt Alderink 6'7" | PF Zeeland West | 2024 State #245 Nation MI 6-7 2024 Zeeland West Last time Alderink was in this very gym. He was primarily showing off his high major athleticism at the Brawl for the Ball That was definitely present Saturday. But in a showcase setting he was really able to show off his perimeter skill set. Got to his spots easily with his improved ball handling. Once there easily rises above his defenders. Difficult shot to block due to its elevation. Also comes at you a little differently as he is left handed. Displayed lethal step back jumpers on consecutive possessions late in the day. Ran with The Family on the vaunted EYBL this summer. Geographically has the state pretty well covered. Recently earning Division 1 offers from the relatively new staffs at both Eastern and Western Michigan universities. Although they still might be a year away. Should lead one of the better teams on the Lakeshore with the Dux.
Cameron Regnerus Cameron Regnerus 6'7" | PF Grandville | 2024 State MI 6-7 2024 Grandville One of the fastest rising players in state continued his ascent into the fall showcase circuit on Saturday. Despite his slender frame is a true traditional post who knows what he is. Doesn’t spend much time out on the perimeter. Aggressively establishes deep position in the post. Has a soft touch around the basket. But honestly with the way he plays right now. Doesn’t really need it. Most of the time if he catches it near the basket he trying to dunk— often successfully. Well schooled on both ends of the court. Keeps the ball high in the post. Uses his length to play with an extreme level of defensive verticality. This makes him one of the top shot blockers in the state. Not just in this scouts opinion. A prominent area official in attendance was pointing out this very trait between games. Already holds an offer from Grand Valley St and is accumulating more interest from others.
Jashaun Boggerty Jashaun Boggerty 6'2" | PG Lakeview (Battle Creek) | 2023 State MI 6-2 Battle Creek Lakeview We can’t let the 2024’s have all the pub. Boggerty played with the maturity and control from a player who is a veteran of the fall showcase circuit. The definition of a true combo guard. Skilled enough with the ball to play the point. But also an explosive and creative scorer. At this point probably leans a little more towards the two guard side of the equation. Competed hard defensively and did not back down from anyone in the loaded field. Best player I have seen from Battle Creek. That carried some serious weight about a decade ago. A big senior season could bring some recruiting eyes back to Cereal City. Starting to attract some small college interest.
