Class: 1A
2021-2022 Record: 16-10
Dae’jon Shanks
Dae’jon Shanks
Key Returners: Dae’jon Shanks 6-1 SG (2024)
Shanks brings pure athleticism and energy to a Bradford High squad that returns four of their five starters from a state championship team a year ago. Shanks averaged 8.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game last season for the Tornadoes. Shanks has high basketball IQ and tremendous court vision.
Chalil Cummings
Chalil Cummings
Key Returners: Chalil Cummings 6-2 CG (2024)
Not only is Cummings a standout on the football field, but he also stands out on the basketball court. Cummings currently holds a dozen football offers from notable schools such as Cincinnati, East Carolina, Florida State, Iowa State, Kentucky and several others. Cummings was also the team’s leading rebounder (5.3 rebounds per game) last season as a sophomore.
Shayne Davis
Shayne Davis
Key Returners: Shayne Davis 6-1 SF (2023)
Davis is also a high athletic guard with a huge motor and quickness to the basket. Davis was also the team’s leading scorer (Averaging 11.3 points per game) last season as a junior. On the defensive end, Davis can guard multiple positions and with his length can bring deflections and steals to the table. Davis is the true definition of a player who can play all 84 feet on the court. Last season as a junior, Davis shot 45 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc.
Torin Brazell
Torin Brazell
Sleeper Prospect: Torin Brazell 6-1 CG (2024)
Brazell can play multiple positions and is known to be a “team guy” willing to do whatever role it takes to help his team win. While the stats may not be to what he expected, Brazell is a high energy guy and can go get rebounds with the best of them. Last season in the state championship game, Brazell grabbed big rebounds to lead into transition points for the Tornadoes. Expect a bigger junior season for the 6-1 combo guard.
