Watkins was dynamic on and off the ball as the combo guard was getting it done all day long. Watkins has the ability to beat you off the bounce with one quick off the dribble move and then has the athleticism and touch to finish around the basket. A nose for the ball, Watkins was winning battles for loose balls and causing havoc on the defensive end. I was very impressed with Watkins production in both games that I watched of his and think he’s one of the top 2023 prospects from NW Ohio.
The goal of events like this is to allow players to get college opportunities and shortly after the conclusion of the event Hicks was offered a spot with Owens Community College. Hicks is an athletic wing who looks like a football prospect with his size and shoulders. Hicks showed more basketball skill than I’d previously seen from him with some mid-range jumpers and passes to open teammates. An impressive athlete, Hicks had a dunk from a standstill that had a ref stunned afterwards that a 6’3 wing could do that. If Hicks continues to work on his skill and feel he has the athleticism to be an impact player at the next level. I was very impressed with Hicks on Sunday and think more college offers will be coming his way soon.
Jacobs is a prospect who you need to watch closely to see his impact but focusing on him during Sunday’s action I saw what he brings to the court. Jacobs plays with a great motor and rebounds well for his position. Always energetic, Jacobs was crashing the offensive glass with aggression and finishing around the basket. Not a flashy player but Jacobs was productive and played hard, which earns him a spot in this article.
Stout is a prospect I’d never heard of before this event but left as a big fan of his by the end of the day. Stout was getting after it with the ball in his hands creating plays off the bounce for himself and others. Stout was tough for defenders to keep in front of them. I was impressed with his quickness and shot-making ability. Stout looks like he’ll have a big year for a Lima Sr squad looking to once again prove they are the best team in NW Ohio.
House is a pretty interesting prospect at 6’6 he moves like a wing and has a long wingspan as well. House made a couple plays off the bounce that caught my eye and used his length on both ends. I mostly just saw flashes from House but the flashes I saw were very interesting. If House can turn these physical tools into more consistent production he’ll be a major stock riser as a senior and has a chance to earn a lot of college interest.
