October 1st is right around the corner and that means the high school basketball season is almost here! While October will bring plenty of preseason preview content throughout the site, September is about the individuals after the summer has wrapped up. Earlier this month, we started our ranking updates with the 2025 class. This week, we’re putting a spotlight on the 2024 rankings with the Top 60 juniors in the state. In case you missed it, you can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. In this post, it’s all about the best shooters across the state. These aren’t the only players in the 2024 class that can light it up from beyond the arc, but these guys have stood out over the last 12 months.
Braeden Clinton Braeden Clinton 6'0" | CG Riverfield Country Day | 2024 State OK – Riverfield
The small Tulsa school Riverfield made a run all the way to the state tournament last year and they were led by the Clinton brothers Braeden and Davieon. Braeden Clinton Braeden Clinton 6'0" | CG Riverfield Country Day | 2024 State OK is a 2024 sharpshooter who not only impressed as a sophomore for Riverfield, but he performed incredibly well every time we saw him throughout the offseason during Prep Hoops tournaments. Clinton has a pure shooting motion and while he’s somewhat shorter than some of the other guards in the class, it doesn’t really matter because he can get his shot from just about anywhere and it always looks like it’s the exact same motion. Clinton also showed throughout the offseason that he has much more to his game than shooting but that has been something that has stood out over the last eight months.
Carson Jones Carson Jones 6'3" | SG Oklahoma Christian | 2024 State OK – Oklahoma Christian School
Another player that we saw about every other weekend while playing on the Prep Hoops Circuit was guard Carson Jones Carson Jones 6'3" | SG Oklahoma Christian | 2024 State OK , who will be suiting up for Oklahoma Christian School this winter. While playing with H&H Elite this offseason, Jones established himself as one of the top shooters on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Jones played at Deer Creek last season and is headed to OCS, who is moving up to Class 4A this winter, making that class even deeper. Jones was incredibly consistent throughout the weekends this spring and summer. He did the majority of his scoring from beyond the arc and was mostly a spot up shooter within the H&H Elite offense. However, over the course of the spring and summer, we saw growth and continued evolution to Jones’ game as he got better at moving with the ball.
Cedric Dixon Cedric Dixon 6'3" | SG Grind Prep | 2024 State #323 Nation OK – Union
Arguably the player we’re most excited to see this winter is Union junior guard Cedric Dixon Cedric Dixon 6'3" | SG Grind Prep | 2024 State #323 Nation OK . Union has lost a few of their top playmakers and Dixon is expected to step up into a new role this season. On last year’s team, Dixon could fly under the radar at times but when it came to shooting, he was arguably the best shooter on the team. Throughout the spring and summer, Dixon absolutely torched defenders on a national level from beyond the arc. When Dixon started heating up, it was nearly impossible to cool him off and slow down his momentum. We expect Dixon to take a larger role within the Union offense this season and despite losing some playmakers, the 1-2 punch of Dixon and fellow 2024 guard Dalen Fuller Dalen Fuller 6'4" | CG Union | 2024 State OK is going to be tough to stop and they’ll be one of the top scoring duos in Class 6A this winter.
Ja’Mon Valentine Ja’Mon Valentine 6'2" | CG Choctaw | 2024 State OK – Choctaw
One of the breakout stars from last season within the state’s 2024 class was Choctaw guard Ja’Mon Valentine Ja’Mon Valentine 6'2" | CG Choctaw | 2024 State OK . We caught the dynamic Choctaw guard in person a few times throughout the last high school season and every time he impressed. Valentine is a dynamic athlete and his shot is very tough to contest. The range was incredibly impressive to watch as he would pull up from just about anywhere within 25 feet of the basket. Choctaw has quite a few young standouts that will make them a team to watch this upcoming season and in the future. Valentine will be a name to watch and should be one of the top scorers within Class 6A this season. He enjoyed a breakout season last year but the expectations will certainly rise as we head into a new season and more teams know about the dynamic Choctaw guard.
Madden Padilla Madden Padilla 5'9" | SG Lawton | 2024 State OK – Lawton MacArthur
Another 2024 prospect that we saw a few times throughout the spring and summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit was Lawton MacArthur guard Madden Padilla Madden Padilla 5'9" | SG Lawton | 2024 State OK . This kid can absolutely fill it up and was routinely one of the top scorers in just about every game that we watched him play in. The thing that makes Padilla one of the top shooters in the 2024 class is how quick his trigger is. Padilla can pull up from just about anywhere and his release is so quick that defenders simply have no time to react before he gets a shot up. Similar to Clinton, Padilla isn’t the biggest guard but with how quick his shot is and his overall athleticism, it really hasn’t mattered. Padilla is definitely a name we’re going to keep an eye on this winter because he has the ability to average over 20 points per game and make it look easy this season.
