Putman provided the Beavers with some much-needed shooting last year as a sophomore, knocking down over 50% of his 3-point attempts. He’s a long and athletic wing who can score from all three levels, and playing alongside one of the state’s elite big men in Caden Kirkman Caden Kirkman 6'8" | PF Wilton | 2023 State IA provides him with plenty of open looks.
2.) 2025 Madden Uhlenhopp (Osage) – 25/52 (48.1%)
The 5-9 sharpshooter came off the bench to provide a scoring spark for the Green Devils as a freshman, averaging 5.9 points a game and showing that he can be one of the state’s elite shooting threats.
3.) 2023 Tyce Van Beek (Unity Christian) – 24/51 (47.1%)
Van Beek shot significantly better from behind the arc (47.1%) than he did from 2-point range (38.2%) last season, showing that he’s a true marksman from deep.
4.) 2024 Eli Ricketts Eli Ricketts 6'1" | SG Denver | 2024 State IA (Denver) – 46/101 (45.5%)
After a solid sophomore year and a strong summer with the Iowa Barnstormers, Ricketts has a chance to emerge as one of the top scorers in 2A this year after averaging 8.1 points a game last season. He moves really well off the ball and has a lightning-quick release on his shot. The top two scorers graduated from the Cyclones, taking over 37 points a game with them.
5.) 2025 Zach Driscoll Zach Driscoll 6'0" | SG Decorah | 2025 State IA (MFL-Mar-Mac) – 45/99 (45.5%)
Driscoll burst onto the scene last year, dropping 37 points in his first ever varsity game, and he didn’t slow down the rest of the way, establishing himself as an elite scorer as just a freshman. He can fill it up from all three levels, and his ability to shoot it helps open everything else up for him and his teammates.
6.) 2023 Junior Brown Junior Brown 5'8" | SG East Marshall | 2023 State IA (East Marshall) – 61/137 (44.5%)
Brown enjoyed a breakout year as a junior, averaging a team-high 18.5 points a game for the Mustangs while showing that he can score from anywhere. He shot it better from the arc than he did from the field and looks primed to have a huge senior season for an East Marshall team that should be significantly improved.
7.) 2024 Cooper Hoff Cooper Hoff 5'10" | SG Aplington-Parkersburg | 2024 State IA (Aplington-Parkersburg) – 46/105 (43.8%)
Just watch Hoff shoot the rock and you’ll be able to tell immediately that he’s a pure shooter. The ball comes off his hands smoothly and he gets great rotation on his shot. He’s one of the purest shooters in the state, and he’s a player who knows his role and plays it well. Over 86% of his field-goal attempts came from behind the arc last season.
8.) 2024 Brady Martin Brady Martin 6'0" | PG West Burlington | 2024 State IA (West Burlington) – 44/102 (43.1%)
Martin enjoyed a breakout sophomore year for the Falcons, averaging 13.0 points and showing that he’s a strong three-level scoring threat. He followed that up with a great summer with the Iowa Barnstormers, showing both scoring and facilitating capabilities. He’s quick, gets the ball into his shooting pocket quickly off the bounce and moves well without the ball in his hands, showing a quick release and extended range on his jumper.
9.) 2024 Owen Larson Owen Larson 6'1" | PG Estherville Lincoln Central | 2024 State IA (Estherville Lincoln Central) – 81/188 (43.1%)
An extremely talented junior guard, Larson ended his commitment early by pledging his allegiance to South Dakota State. He’s cat-quick with a high IQ, excellent handles, and a pure stroke from everywhere on the floor.
10.) 2024 Jace Tams Jace Tams 5'11" | PG Treynor | 2024 State IA (Treynor) – 76/178 (42.7%)
Over 83% of Tams’ field goal attempts as a sophomore came from behind the arc, and his perimeter shooting accounted for nearly 81% of his total points last year. Following the graduation of the Cardinals’ top scorer, he’ll be tasked with taking his game up yet another level as a junior.
