July 20-23 I attended the 3SSB Circuit at Seal Beach, CA. I watched as many teams as I could to get a feel for this circuit and one thing obviously stands out. It is a very good circuit but there is is no AZ team represented in it. We did have Team Harden up until last year. It would definitely be nice to add one locally in the next few years or so.

There are some top-tier programs that multiple AZ-based players play on with Dream Vision and Compton Magic.

Here were the AZ Standouts from those two programs:

Garrison Phelps 6'5 W 2023 (Dream Vision)

A wildly athletic wing who was a stud for the St. Mary's Knights the past 4 years will be heading to Link Prep post grad. He showcased his talents during the last live period in front of many college coaches. He hit shots from the perimeter, got out on the break and had some unreal put back dunks off of timely offensive rebounds. He defends multiple positions and will definitely be at a D1 school in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='831115' first='Kevin' last='Patton Jr'] (Dream Vision)

One of the more versatile players in the state. He plays and defends multiple positions with his incredible size, length and bounce. You will consistently see him time balls off the glass to block shots, grab rebounds at its highest point, make plays for teammates, shoot it to the 3pt line and as always make plays for his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1062311' first='Kallai' last='Patton'] (Dream Vision 16)

Kevin Jr younger brother had a good showing. He had arguably the best dunk I viewed for the four days. He used his long wingspan to pick off a pass and sprinted down the court with a defender and leaped up and dunked it on him quickly. He collected many more steals throughout the week and defends the 1-3.

[player_tooltip player_id='1129193' first='Koa' last='Peat'] (Compton Magic 17)

Hard to talk about the 3SSB and not talk about Peat. He is quickly becoming the face of the top-notch CA program. He returned from Team USA's win the week before and was still admittedly a little jet lagged. Of course that did not stop him from going on unstoppable stretches during games. He plays the game from the neck up. People see the power, grace and body control in the air, but he makes many smart decisions with the ball. He will always rebound and take it coast to coast and score through contact better then most in the country. His quick second jump and motor makes him go inside the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482165' first='Rider' last='Portela'] Sunnyslope (Compton Magic 15)

A long scoring guard thinks the game. The son of the Sunnyslope coach can catch and shoot to the 3 and get downhill with some wiggle to the rim. He is a long strider with real length. He grabs boards out of his area with effort and uses his long limbs. He plays the passing lanes and makes smart passes to teammates. His sill, size and IQ jump out at you.
