On Saturday April 12th I attended the Nothing but Net Spring Showcase at Sunnyslope HS hosted by Dinos Trigonis. It was a unique event with club and prep teams playing each other making it a rare live period for college coaches to come view the talent.

I spent all day watching the teams on the main court plus one half in the auxiliary gym. These are not prospect rankings. Just how did they do for the 1-2 games I viewed them.

5th Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2276245' first='Nizir' last='Cannady'] AZ Compass Prep Grind

A pure point guard who plays the right way. He will make his teammates around him better and advance passes it up the court with next level court vision. He will score with bursts to the basket and threes off the catch. He is also a pest on the ball defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='3421209' first='Kamdon' last='Edwards'] Canyon View ([program_tooltip program_id='2867224' first='Phoenix' last='United'] 15) (Pictured)

The undersized scoring combo guard had a good showing. He has a quicker handle and will move the ball but has one of those pretty strokes that look good on every attempt. He hit some clutch threes in a big win and will score it with layups in traffic.

[player_tooltip player_id='1323294' first='Will' last='Gordon'] AZ Compass Prep Grind

A bigger combo guard with athleticism, strength and plus length. He uses his athletic gifts to defend on the perimeter and he will also score. He likes to get downhill in heavy traffic and score thru the contact or often makes trips to the free throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2689901' first='Drew' last='Jolley'] Prescott ([program_tooltip program_id='2867224' first='Phoenix' last='United'] 16)

A budding post player keeps showing you glimpses of his strong two-way play. He will control the glass with two-hands and outlets the ball well. He will score it inside with put backs, dunks, layups and space the floor with threes off the catch with a nice stroke.

[player_tooltip player_id='2282925' first='Jacob' last='Hunter'] Liberty ([program_tooltip program_id='2076421' first='Factory' last='AZ'] 17 P32)

A scoring guard is getting stronger and stronger as he ages. He brings a college frame and motor to the court and he is using it to rebound the ball better. He will score it with cuts off the ball and will fall away from mid-range with a nice stroke. He is a physical multiple position defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='3150619' first='Jasiah' last='Lloyd'] Carl Hayden ([program_tooltip program_id='2867224' first='Phoenix' last='United'] 16)

A combo guard showed me that he has the ability to be a point guard as well. He has improving court vision with drive and kicks and sees it and throws the dime quickly. He will score with downhill takes with his tight handle and burst and finishes it off with tear drops.

[player_tooltip player_id='2677143' first='Muhammad' last='Manigat'] Bella Vista Prep CIA Supreme

A bigger sized scoring guard with real length, a nice shifty handle and advanced skill level. He can score it every way with mid-range pull-ups, fall aways from both levels, threes, floaters and even dunk it on the break. His size and skill will make him a nice college target in two years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2143671' first='Ashton' last='Musser'] St. Mary's ([program_tooltip program_id='2867224' first='Phoenix' last='United'] EYCL 17)

The big man for Team United showed his soft hands, feel, skill and sheer size. He is a very good passer out of the double team and can make players around him better with his IQ. He is strong rebounder using his size, girth and positioning and will score it with strong takes in the paint and has the touch to the three point line.

[player_tooltip player_id='3548448' first='Mmesoma' last='Ndubisi'] Bella Vista Prep

A high flying power forward has some size, vertical pop and skill. He plays the game with a high motor and loves attacking towards the basket. He will spring up quickly and plays aggressively on the glass and on the defensive end of the court. He will throw it down easily and he can shoot it.
