Rising sophomores are getting ready for their second varsity season, where they are looking to make an impact on the court. Here are the 2025 Central Jersey guards to watch this season.
Griffin Linstra Griffin Linstra 6'5" | CG Manasquan | 2025 State NJ , 6’3 CG Manasquan
Linstra was a steadying presence in the backcourt for Manasquan all season long as he helped control the pace of the game. The 6’3 guard has a nice handle, which he uses to get into the lane and has a nice touch on his floater. Linstra moves wells without the ball in his hands and does not mind contact around the basket. He is a tough on-ball defender as he can defend both guard spots. Linstra is a tough guard prospect who makes plays on both ends of the floor.
Darius Adams Darius Adams 6'4" | SG La Lumiere | 2025 #32 Nation IN , 6’4 SG Manasquan
Adams was Manasquan’s top scorer last season and should only get better in his second varsity campaign. The lanky 6’4 guard has a smooth handle, which he uses to get by his defender and finish around the basket. Adams has a clean release on his jumper and is capable of shooting either off the bounce or catch. He moves well without the ball in his hands and slides his feet on the defensive end. Adams is a talented guard prospect who should put up big numbers in 2022-23.
Peter Mauro Peter Mauro 5'10" | PG St. Rose | 2025 NJ , 5’10 PG St. Rose
Mauro will be one to watch in the Shore Conference this year with his ability to run the offense. The 5’10 guard has a good handle, which he uses to get into the lane to create plays. Mauro is more than just a slasher as he can knock down shots in the mid-range and has a good shooting form. He is a good passer and works hard on the defensive end of the floor. Mauro is a skilled floor general prospect who should make plays throughout the season for St. Rose with his handle and jumper.
Dwayne “DJay” Snead Jr Dwayne “DJay” Snead Jr 6'1" | PG Pennington | 2025 State NJ , 6’0 PG Pennington
Snead will be running the show for Pennington this season, which should help his stock in a big way. The 6’0 floor general has a lightning quick first step and a nice handle, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce. Snead knows how to finish around the basket and shoots the ball with confidence from behind the arc. He rarely makes bad decisions with the ball in his hands and gets deflections on the defensive end. Snead is a quick point guard prospect who will be one to watch in 2022-23 with his ability to get to the basket and finish around the rim.
Dante Regan Dante Regan 6'1" | PG Immaculata | 2025 State NJ , 6’1 PG St. Joe’s Metuchen
Regan should get more looks on the offensive end in his second varsity season, which will help his game in a big way. The 6’1 guard knows how to get to the basket and is able to draw contact in the paint. Regan gets to his spot on the floor and can create separation off the dribble to get his shot off. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is a solid rebounder for a guard. Regan should get key minutes for the Falcons this season, which will help him grow as a player in 2022-23.
