Got to see some outstanding basketball played today from an array of different teams and styles of play. Here are my top standouts from the first day of play.
5’11 Anthony Galvin 2025
Easily the best player I watched in the 15u division today. Calvin shoots with such confidence, he pulled up twice from beyond NBA range and connected. I believe he finished the game with 5 3’s.
He was also incredibly shifty using an array of combos to get him to the rim and finish. Anthony is a gifted scorer and a pleasure to watch.
6’3 Alex McFarlane 2025
The lengthy 15u prospect shot the ball well from the corner off the catch, helped his team rebound, and finished around the cup several times pushing the ball in transition. His shot looked pure and developed.
He played great defense both on the ball and coming to help, scoring him a pair of blocks. One of the best 3 and D guards I watched for the day.
6’0 Xavian Charles 2025
The shifty lead guard handled the ball well under pressure, generally getting past his defender and getting the paint touches needed to feed the block or his shooter on the corner.
Several of those times attacking he finished around the rim with contact. Charles is a fast guard that loves an up-tempo and physical game.
6’3 Jonah Butler 2025
Butler boasts a great physical frame for a 2025 prospect. He was an aggressive rebounder and the anchor for Griffin Elite team. He did a bit of everything, was fed and finished on the block.
He also fought for offensive boards putting them back up in a tough battle with the Barnstormers. I was surprised to see him have a sweet stoke from behind the arc going 2/2 from the 3. Butler has all the tools not only to be a great high school prospect, but someone who can truly play at the next level.
