On day 2 of the NHR State Tournament, I checked out the action at Wayzata High School. This was a super nice venue with 8 hardwood courts. In this article, we will be looking at 15U, 16U, and 17U players.

Impressive Players from Saturday

Wyatt Powell |6’1 G| MN Lightning 2024 Bauer

He is a nice athlete with impressive strength. Powell had multiple physical finishes at the rim. Many times, a defender had a hand in his face, but Wyatt could still finish. He had many explosive drives. Powell also showed a very nice pull-up jumper from 3-point land. He was not bothered by pressure, Powell has nice handles. He and the Lightning had a comeback win, they scored at the last second to steal the win.

[player_tooltip player_id="1161538" first="Dalton" last="Lamp"] |6’1 SG| Bears Tail Basketball 2024

He was smoking hot from beyond the arc on Saturday morning. Lamp caught fire from deep and he nailed multiple 3-pointers. He showed off his deep range, a couple of them came from beyond college range. Lamp can knock down jumpers in catch-n-shoot and off the dribble. Dalton also did a nice job of breaking down the D off the dribble. He got his defender to backpedal, and then he pulled up for an open 15-foot jumper. His pull-up game is silky smooth. Lamp hit a big 3-pointer late in the game to take the lead. I really like his confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id="1161524" first="Daniel" last="Yorke"] |6’0 G| Bears Tail Basketball 2024

I didn’t catch how many points he finished with, but Yorke put up 13 points in the first half. He had a nice game scoring the rock. Yorke did most of his damage by slashing into the lane and scoring at the rim or with a short jumper. I liked how Dan drove, drew two defenders, and kicked to shooters. He had a really nice baseline drive and he passed to a shooter for a tri]ple. Yorke showed off his athleticism with an O-board putback. Dan was also dropping dimes in transition. This Davies player is a gifted athlete.

[player_tooltip player_id="1401336" first="Erick" last="Paye"] |6’5 PF| Bears Tails Basketball 2024

He had a physical presence around the rim. Paye had a huge block late in the game which erased a basket. He battled for rebounds all game long. I liked his physical box-outs. He scored on a nice O-board tip-in. Erick also scored with transition baskets. His strength and athleticism are very intriguing. College coaches will want to get him on their watchlist.

[player_tooltip player_id="1288798" first="Bronell" last="Marcus"] |6’5 SG| Minnesota Heat 2023 PVR

He was a star on Saturday. Marcus showed off his special athleticism with a rim-rocking JAM in traffic. He showed sharp anticipation while picking off passes. Bronell proved how strong he is with an AND1 finish. He showed that he is a stud athlete with blow-by drives all game. Bronell also grabbed multiple offensive rebounds. Marcus was productive when I was watching and he helped his squad pick up the W.

[player_tooltip player_id="962221" first="Jackson" last="Ressler"] |6’4 G| Northstar Titans 2023 Stone

This player is tough! Ressler showed nice hang time when finishing. He was in the air, took a hit from the defender, and he put the ball in the hole on the way to the floor. This proves that Jackson has excellent concentration and body control. He made the AND1 and Jackson cashed in the FT after. He looks to be a good defender, Ressler moves his feet very well. I liked how Ressler drove past the initial line of the defense and when the help stepped up he kicked to shooters. He is a well-rounded player with a good understanding of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1158739" first="Raoul" last="Vaidya"] |6’0 G| Northstar Titans 2023 Stone

He had 10 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals when I was watching on Saturday. He had an impressive buzzer beater right before halftime. Raoul cashed in multiple 3’s throughout the game. He is a slasher and a crafty finisher. Raoul had a sweet AND1 finish after taking a hard foul. When Vaidya created a turnover on defense he showed excellent fundamentals by turning his head and deflecting the pass with his outside hand. Vaidya is a calm, cool, and skilled PG.

Zashon Rich |6’2 G| Team Rise Up 2024

He is crazy athletic. This lefty is explosive and he can elevate quickly. Zashon plays fearless and he is not afraid of dunking on people. When I was watching, Rich was breaking down the defense with ease. He was running the 1 and Zashon was always in control. I was very impressed with his overall skill and athleticism.

[player_tooltip player_id="1219802" first="Andre" last="Austin"] (2025) |6’1 G| Pack 2023

He was playing up two age divisions and he still stood out. Austin is an advanced athlete. He first stood out with a coast-to-coast finish. He made a difficult layup with a defender all over him. It was great to see him use his body to protect the ball. He showed excellent finishing ability when he slashed into the lane and scored against the Heat trees. Andre was exceptional at creating space and he showed off a nice jumper from the elbow, it did not seem to bother him when there was a defender in his grill. He continues to impress me every time I see him play.

[player_tooltip player_id="1476040" first="Mark" last="Fassett"] (2024) |6’0 G| Pack 2023

This player is crafty, creative, and he has all the skills. Fassett is an opportunistic scorer. He snagged a long rebound, stepped back and drilled a 3-pointer before the defense could recover. When attacking off the bounce, Mark showed a nice fade-away jumper. He is great at changing speeds and figuring out ways to get his shot off. He also posted up bigger players and he scored with his crafty fade-away from the block. Fassett is a pure scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1139350" first="Hudson" last="Vaith"] |6’5 G| Minnesota Heat 2023 MacDonald

He is a jack of all trades, a big guard, and a quality athlete. I was impressed when Vaith rose up above the defense and grabbed a rebound. It looked like he was boxed out but that did not stop Hudson. Vaith scored with an O-board tip-in as well. He showed great defense when going up to contest shots, Vaith always went straight up. He also blocked a shot. Vaith showed quick hands with a pickpocket steal. He was a timely playmaker all game and he helped the heat pick up a W.

Collin Mulholland |6’10 PF| Minnesota Heat 2023 MacDonald

He is an imposing figure with his 6’8 length and his long wingspan. Mullholland can do work from beyond the arc, off the bounce, and on the block. He helped stretch the defense with a made triple. Collin caught on the wing, drove baseline, and he dished an assist like a PG. He scored with a strong drop-step move. With his size, Collin has no problem scoring in traffic. He showed great hustle and agility when saving a ball from going out of bounds. Mullholland is very long, has good feet, and he showed good passing skills when breaking the press. I really like his game.
