Mason Shrout Mason Shrout 6'4" | SF Preble Shawnee | 2024 State OH , 6’4 SF Preble Shawnee 2024: Shrout had a great EYBL session one in Orlando, making it rain from the outside. Shrout is an elite shooter who is proving his ability to score as a small school prospect against some of the best players in the nation. Shrout is a great floor spacer and has shown a bit more self-creation than I originally thought he had. I believe Shrout will be a high priority for mid-major programs around the Midwest and could even get some interest from programs at higher levels than that. Shrout also could end his career as a 2,000+ point scorer at Preble Shawnee if he stays healthy his Junior and Senior season.
AJ McBride AJ McBride 6'5" | SF Moeller | 2024 State OH , 6’5 PF Moeller 2024: McBride opened up my eyes in Indianapolis with a breakout performance on the EYBL circuit. McBride was running out in transition and throwing down some impressive dunks in both games that I watched. McBride was also shooting the ball at a higher level than I had previously seen. McBride seems like a late-blooming prospect who could be set for a breakout season with Moeller. The potential upside on McBride is through the roof with his athleticism and family ties.
Dorian Williams Dorian Williams 6'4" | SF Princeton | 2024 State OH , 6’4 SF Princeton 2024: Williams is the third All Ohio Red 16 U prospect to be featured in this article but it’s because of his performance during the high school season that sees him climb the rankings. Williams left it all on the court in a playoff loss to Walnut Hills, making outside shots, grabbing offensive rebounds and doing the little things to try and help his team. I like Williams’ toughness and shot-making ability. He’s grabbed a football offer from Purdue but also appears to be a Division I prospect on the basketball court as well. I love the toughness that multi-sport athletes bring, and Williams is one of the best in the state from the class of 2024.
Hosea Steele Hosea Steele 6'4" | SF Richmond Heights | 2024 State OH , 6’4 SF Cleveland Heights 2024: Steele was a prospect I hadn’t head of until I saw him with Cleveland Heights at the NEO Christmas Classic and he performed well. I added Steele near the end of the rankings this winter but after seeing him a few more times, he’s rightfully earned a rankings bump based on his play this spring with the Ohio Rebels. Steele has a motor that never stops and his ability to drive in traffic and finish is tough to stop at the 16 U level. I’d like to see Steele become a more reliable outside shooter, but with how hard he plays every time he laces up his shoes, Steele is a very productive player during the high school season and on the grassroots circuit.
