Parker Baumann Parker Baumann 6'5" | CG Shorecrest | 2023 State WA , 6’5, Guard/Forward, Big Drip Hoops Elite, Shorecrest, C/O 2023
Parker was one of the most eye-catching multi-positional players over the weekend, showcasing his strong all-around fundamentals on a play-by-play basis. He’s a winning player who makes an impact on the game regardless of what role he’s put in. He’s a well above average rebounder for his position, a smart facilitator, and he has a deep bag of scoring moves. He will score over defenders in the post and uses angles on the glass well, converts plenty of second chance opportunities, and has excellent touch on his perimeter shot. The First Team All-Wesco pick notched 20 pts, 9 rebs and 6 asts per game for the Scots and is due for a huge opportunity in the future to prove that he’s one of the more high caliber prospects in the state moving forward.
Bennett Olujic Bennett Olujic 6'7" | SF Mount Si | 2023 State WA , 6’7, Forward/Post, Big Drip Hoops Elite, Eastside Catholic, C/O 2023
From what I saw, Olujic was one of the more intriguing forwards to watch at the event. Playing alongside star Oregon center Graham Eikenberry (6-foot-11), he was the perfect fit as the four-man. Bennett is highly-skilled and battles in the post for boards, has an improving offensive game, and gets easy looks from offensive rebounds inside when he’s in position. When Eikenberry was on the bench, he spent time at the five and held up just fine for BDH Elite. He seems to have grown into his body a bit more since the start of his junior year and he’s a great competitor who plays extremely hard.
Ziggy Holmes, 6’4, Guard/Forward, Team Fuego 17U, Rainer Beach, C/O 2022
Ziggy Holmes really embraced being a solid multi-positional guy for Fuego at the WC Clash. A streaky shooter, Holmes showed that when his jumper isn’t falling that he can defend, rebound and hustle. At a muscular 6-foot-4, he has the size and foot quickness to hold up defensively against both wings and guards. Ziggy is extremely athletic and a good player to get out and run with on the break. He does a great job leaking out in front and being available in 3-on-2 or 2-on-1 situations. I felt like Holmes slipped through the cracks during his senior season for Rainer Beach and is due for some college interest down the line.
Cavin Holden Cavin Holden 6'1" | CG Ra Long | 2023 State WA , 6’1, SG/PG, Emerald City Academy, R.A. Long, C/O 2023
This was my first time seeing Holden up close in person and I was impressed. The first thing you think of is his supreme shooting ability. Cavin is a sniper with range and has a high-arching 3-point shot that will drop in a quality percentage of the time. He will not hesitate to let it pop several feet behind the line, but he is more than just a shooter to me. He has long arms which allow him to bother both point guards and shooters on defense and is an underrated playmaker (18 ppg, 5 apg for R.A Long). The 2A GSH MVP has a lot of upside as a combo guard at the next level.
Andrew Collins Andrew Collins 6'4" | SG Tumwater | 2023 State WA , 6’4, Guard/Forward, South Sound Roots Academy, Tumwater, C/O 2023
A player who fit into a lot of different spots and lineups on the floor over for the Roots squad at the tournament was Andrew Collins Andrew Collins 6'4" | SG Tumwater | 2023 State WA . A capable jump shooter who competes on defense, he showed potential as a nice floor spacer. He strikes me as more of a guard, but he slips past opponents inside, grabbing rebounds like a wing/forward (12.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg for Tumwater). Collins has an overall sense of where he’s supposed to be on the floor and makes a great secondary guard or off-ball forward.
Avery Isler, 6’5, Forward/Post, NW Thunder 17U, Graham-Kapowsin, C/O 2022
A true tweener, Avery is a physical forward at 6’5 with a stalky body who demands attention in the painted area. He has more of a post-type body but is mobile enough to play the 4. He can bang in the low-post and was a constant double-double threat for Graham-Kapowsin in the regular season, averaging 15 points and 10 boards a night and brought that same energy at the Circuit. Due to his size, he draws a ton of contact and whistles when teams are forced to clamp down and stop him from scoring inside, and he is a solid shooter from the stripe. In addition, he’s a big that has the ability to step outside and hit jumpers from the 15-20 foot range.
