17U WI Crusaders take down UAA WI Playground
This is the first 17U action I’ve seen since working for Prep Hoops. The Crusaders were in control of this game from the tipoff. Alex Sherwood Alex Sherwood 6'4" | SF Xavier | 2023 State WI (Xavier H.S.) impressed me the most. He got off to an early start, knocking down a couple threes, and finished well down low. Also played great defense. I saw a similar effort in the 2nd half, as he finished with 19 points. He’s got a great build for a 6’7″ forward. On the other hand, Ashe Oglesby Ashe Oglesby 6'6" | PF The Prairie School | 2023 State WI impressed me for Wisconsin Playground. He’s super athletic and his fast break slam in the 2nd half was impressive. He kept his team in it with his defensive efforts, but the Crusaders were too much to handle.
Joshua Ofori Joshua Ofori 6'7" | PF Prior Lake | 2023 State MN leads 17U MN Heat over National Basketball Academy
Ofori’s an intriguing prospect who’s got a lot to his game. He scored 8 early points from the tip tonight. He displayed some excellent size and athleticism down low as he finished through contact and earned opportunities from the line. Also put up a floater driving baseline early that half. Milwaukee’s Basketball Academy had answers with Kenyon Davis Kenyon Davis 6'0" | PG Port Washington | 2023 State WI , a crafty point guard who found buckets from all three levels. He left it all out there until the final horn. But it was too much as Ofori put the game out of reach with an outstanding effort on both ends. He’s one of Minnesota’s most underrated prospects.
Wear Out The Net Outlast IL T-Wolves in OT Thriller (17U)
This was definitely the most exciting game of the day. T-Wolves F Kyle Olebaygi (Lincoln-Way East) opened the game with a slam. The two teams went back and forth throughout the first half. Jelani McGregor (Hammond Central, IN) exploded in the first half for the T-Wolves with some athletic finishes and nice passing. Also hit two triples that half. Baiden Bean Baiden Bean 6'1" | PG Farmington | 2023 State MN (Farmington, MN) impressed with his ball handling and slashing abilities for WOTN. He was super quick in transition and had 10 first half points. Other players stepped up for both teams in the second half as the lead constantly changed. Kayser Hassan Kayser Hassan 6'6" | PF Eastview | 2022 State MN (Eastview, MN) exploded in the paint with a couple dunks and some nice defensive plays. Anish Ramlall Anish Ramlall 6'2" | PG Rosemount | 2023 State MN (Rosemount, MN) has three crucial triples late as Minnesota’s WOTN outlasted Illinois T-Wolves.
Hornseth, Frisch lead 16U Wisconsin Blizzard over Big 3
These guys killed it today. Brady Corso Brady Corso 6'2" | SG Neenah | 2024 State WI (Neenah) had a terrific second half in this one. He opened the half with three straight triples and made some excellent plays late. A nice floating layup, followed by an alley-top pass and two free throws sealed the game. The alley-top finisher, Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI (DePere), also played great. He’s a super big forward who displays tons of athleticism. Grabbed some big rebounds late and had several blocked shots. Horseth finished with 14 and Corso finished with 17 as the Blizzard won 64-55.
