This event fell on the second live period of the spring which permitted college coaches of all levels to be in the gym watching potential recruits taking live reps. Here are the top prospects we saw on the weekend.
Parker Martens, Genesis 17u – Martens is an elite level shooter from behind-the-arc. At 6-feet-4 with picturesque shooting mechanics and great lift on his shot, Martens’ size and ability to elevate above defenders helps him to be a consistent shooter off the catch and off the move.
Parker Strauss Parker Strauss 6'4" | PG Pacifica Christian/OC | 2023 State CA-S , Los Angeles Elite Premier 17u – Strauss is a crafty and high IQ point guard whose pace combined with his willingness to find teammates and score when needed makes him an intriguing next level prospect. The 6-foot-4 junior has good size for his position, and while he’s not a freak athlete and doesn’t have elite speed, Strauss uses change of speed and direction as well as his basketball IQ to get to his spots where he is successful.
Quincy Phillips, Los Angeles Elite Premier 16u – Phillips is another SoCal prospect who is on the rise. The 6-foot point guard out of Gardena high school has an impressive scoring arsenal highlighted by his change of speed and direction that help him beat defenders off the dribble and get into the paint where he can finish with a crafty layup. Phillips is also an adept pull-up shooter at the mid-range level.
Robert Hinton Robert Hinton 6'4" | CG Harvard-Westlake | 2024 State #147 Nation CA-S , Team WhyNot 16u – Hinton was perhaps the best all-around prospect we saw at this event. The 6-foot-4 guard not only has a great scoring feel and aggressive mentality, but his overall IQ for the game and willingness to be a playmaker for teammates makes him more than just a scoring threat. Hinton is a quick and shifty ball handler whose burst and athleticism allows him to attack the basket off the dribble and finish over rim protectors. The biggest key to Hinton’s game is the fact that he plays with a high motor and great energy on both ends of the floor.
Royce Bolden, Team DTermined 15u Select – Bolden has an impressive combination of size and skill-set for a 2025 prospect. The Eastvale Roosevelt guard played with good pace and a high a basketball IQ and flashed a consistent catch-and-shoot three-point shot in addition to his ability to get downhill and finish over or through contact around the basket.
