Here’s a look at some of the standouts from teams on the west coast and in the midwest.
Darius Carr Darius Carr 6'3" | SG Fairfax | 2023 State #63 Nation CA-S | 6’4” WG | Compton Magic 2023
Carr looked every bit like one of the top shooting guards in the country this past weekend at 3SSB, and he has a ton of tools that I love moving forward for him at the next level. At 6’4” with good positional size and is a big time athlete, he has a good IQ on both ends of the floor and is always in a place to make a play and he can score the rock from multiple levels as well. He’s extremely talented already and still has room to improve moving forward, and he’s only going to continue to blow up this summer.
Koa Peat | 6’8” F | Compton Magic 2025
Peat was, in my opinion, the best overall long term prospect that I saw at the 3SSB, as he is one of the youngest prospects on the circuit and already is dominating with his versatility and skillset. He already has a frame well beyond his year and is likely still growing, he plays with a good motor and a chip on his shoulder and he can impact the game across the board. He is an efficient scorer in the paint and has soft touch to finish through traffic, he can step out and put it on the deck and score it out to the three-point line and he can isn’t afraid of competition or the big situation already.
Jazz Gardner Jazz Gardner 7'0" | C Los Altos | 2023 State #85 Nation CA-S | 6’11” C | Dream Vision 2023
Gardner is a very intriguing prospect moving forward with a lot of potential to play at the highest level if it all clicks for him as he is the prototype of the new age big man. The 6’11” big has a good frame to bang in the post defensively and rebound, but he thrives with his ability to stretch the floor and knock down shots consistently. He can fill it up from deep and gets hot quickly, his size allows him to take and make shots with little space and he is a walking mismatch that will be hard to matchup with throughout the summer.
Cedric Lath | 6’9” C | Dream Vision 2023
Lath is a relatively unknown prospect that made a name for himself at session 2 with his high motor and athletic play as he ripped rims and brought great energy to his team. He’s a very strong and bouncy kid who gets after it on both ends of the floor, he can catch and finish above the rim with authority and he brings physicality to his team as well. He is still just scratching the surface with how good he can be moving forward, and when coaches get to see him he should see a lot more pick up in his recruitment.
Kristaps Angelo Kambala | 5’10” CG | Dream Vision 2023
Kambala may not be the biggest guy on the court but he is highly skilled and tough and made big plays for his team when I watched them. The 5’10” combo is a big time shooter from deep with a quick release and deep range, he plays with toughness on both ends of the floor and he can handle the rock and make plays for others.
Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN | 6’4” PG | D1 Minnesota 2023
Chatman is one of the top lead guards on the 3SSB over the past few years, and nothing has really changed as he can do a little bit of everything and has terrific positional size as well. He can get to spots effortlessly off the bounce where he can make plays for himself or others, he shoots the ball well from deep and attacks closeouts well and he has great feel for the game as well. He makes it look very effortless and makes everyone on the floor better.
Pryce Sandfort | 6’7” WF | D1 Minnesota 2023
Sandfort had one of the most impressive shooting performances I saw on the weekend, knocking down 6 three’s in a game and with his size as a shooter is very intriguing moving forward. He moves well off the ball to get open and sets his feet quickly, he has a quick release and excellent range and he can attack closeouts and get to the pull-up too. He isn’t selfish and works to get good shots and he can fill it up in bunches when he gets it going.
