In this article:
At the conclusion of each tournament, a new recurring article will be the ’GameChangers’ series – sponsored by GameChanger. Prospects included in the GameChangers series will be prospects that really positively impacted games for their team.
Here are some 17U GameChangers:
Lincoln Palbicki Lincoln Palbicki 6'10" | C Maple Grove | 2023 State MN — C — Minnesota Select
Palbicki is going to make a college team very happy when he commits to their program. The 6-foot-10 center has the potential to develop into a really good college player. He is a phenomenal rebounder and finisher in the paint. Opposing teams matching up against Minnesota Select should prepare their big men to have a long game. Palbicki is going to make life difficult for a lot of opposing big men this spring/summer. Look for some college programs to start showing some interest in this dominant center.
Isaiah Hagen Isaiah Hagen 6'3" | PG Orono | 2023 State MN — G — Minnesota Select
Hagen was one of the better pure scorers who competed this past weekend in Indy. The guard is a shifty ball handler that does a really nice job of using his dribble to blow by defenders and get to the rim. At the rim, he is a very crafty finisher. He has no problem converting on layups over taller defenders. He is certainly scholarship worthy.
Emmett Lawton Emmett Lawton 6'2" | SG Notre Dame Academy | 2023 State WI — PG — Team 1848
I think that Lawton is one of the most underrated prospects in Wisconsin’s 2023 class. He is a very dangerous shooter who opposing defenders must respect. He is also a proficient slasher who can get to the cup and finish. I really like how Lawton plays on the offensive side of the court. In Team 1848’s final win of the weekend, Lawton tallied 20 points.
Da’Shon Fisher Da’Shon Fisher 6'2" | SG Liberty | 2023 IA — G — Iowa Barnstormers
In the Iowa Barnstormers’ first game of the weekend, Fisher was a standout performer. He was able to score well, throwing down some really impressive dunks. Fisher is a strong-bodied guard who thrives when he gets in the paint. Opposing defenders don’t have much of a chance when the guard is able to slash to the rim. He uses his strength to finish through contact.
Matthew Bothun Matthew Bothun 6'9" | PF St. Francis | 2023 State MN — PF — Minnesota Fury
Playing for a very god Minnesota Fury squad, Bothun made a name for himself this weekend. The power forward is a versatile prospect who was a matchup nightmare in Indy. He can step outside and drill threes or take his man down low and finish. He even showed an ability to put the ball on the deck and create his own shot off the dribble.
Isaiah Habte — F — Minnesota Heat
Habte is going to be a prospect to keep an eye on. A forward with good size and strength, the Minnesota Heat standout is very good on both ends. On offense, he is a knockdown three-point shooter who doesn’t miss many clean looks. He is also very good at cutting to the basket and finishing when the opportunity presents itself. On defense, he has quick feet and is very good about staying in front of his man.
