This weekend in Indinanapolis we experienced our first live period of the year. The event name fit perfectly. The Stage was a huge platform for players to showcase their talent in front of many coaches from all over. Here are a list of players that caught my eye this weekend in The Stage: Parham’s Top Performers!

17U

[player_tooltip player_id="939056" first="Bryce" last="Coleman"] (Illinois Stars)

Coleman was very aggressive this weekend. He looked a lot like the top prospect we knew he could become. Coleman got downhill often scoring well around the rim. At his size being able to take a bump and score through contact is a huge plus sign. When the ball was reversed in the half court Bryce looked very comfortable hitting shots in rhythm. Coleman has made a significant jump since the high school season and we will continue to monitor his progress the rest of the way.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048311" first="Tyler" last="Van Gorp"] (Hoops 4 Health)

I’ve been intrigued with Tyler for two years now and am starting to see the potential I knew would come out. The big man has added some strength and isn’t as easy to move out the way anymore. Van Gorp showed he is a rim protector that has improved on rebounding outside of his area. Tyler does a great job at using length on both sides of the ball. He finishes better around the rim and has shown he can move away and play more of a face up game as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215285" first="Matthew" last="Moore"] (Chicago Lockdown)

Coming from a long tradition of quality big man at Hillcrest Moore is another bouncy big man who controls glass on defense and gets out in transition like a gazelle finishing at a high level. On offense he uses a very effective hook shot and is bouncy enough to clean up any misses off the rim with a thunderous dunk.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215287" first="Jake" last="Fiegen"] (Full Package)

Something about Indy with Jake. Last time the Prep Hoops Circuit was in town Fiegen lit the nets up on the 16U level so naturally he was back to do the same. Jake plays on a fun team Full Package team who always find him at the right moment because he consistently makes shot. Fiegen has a great shot that he is able to get off when coming off screens or pin down situations.

16U

[player_tooltip player_id="1285496" first="Jason" last="Jakstys"] (Basketball Paradise)

Another gem who is starting to push his name up rankings conversation. At 6’8” the very skilled big man is played consistent basketball this weekend. Jason is another solid rim protector that rebounds in and out of his area. He as good timing and recovery instincts. On offense he has strong moves in the post but is also capable of playing stretch four man at times with his ball skills and ability to shoot. Jakstys has a tremendous upside that we hope he continues to reach.

[player_tooltip player_id="1172894" first="Tre" last="Dowdell"] (Team Ten Jabari Parker)

Dowdell is playing on a revamped roster but is showing he can make shots with the best of them. The Brother Rice guard has deep range but doesn’t just rely on shooting threes all game. Trey can get in the lane with a tough handle, make floaters, and finish through contact. He understands the game and plays with a ton of confidence.

15U

Emmanuel Mosley (Chicago Hoops)

Its rare to catch a guard this early who is very savvy on ball screens and play at a controlled pace. Mosley is a solid passer and can occasionally knock down the open shot. What I like about Emmanuel is his ability to get downhill and finish with either hand. He will be one to watch next weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="1385293" first="Bryce" last="Heard"] (Mac Irvin Fire)

Arguably one of the top prospects in Illinois for his class Heard is a scoring threat on any level of AAU. Bryce likes to get points out in transition. He keeps defenders on their toes by scoring off acrobatic finishes. He is a slashing guard who can stretch the defense and is still getting better making shots from mid-range. Bryce will have some big moments as we get deeper into the AAU season

[player_tooltip player_id="1385306" first="Colby" last="Smith"] (Full Package)
Smith was very aggressive and effective at getting to the rim. He finished through defenders often getting to the line because of the strong finishes. Colby already has a good frame and mobility it was his energy that caught my attention. Looking forward to seeing him next week in Chicago.
