Let’s take a look…
Joshua Middlebrooks – Miami High
2023 Joshua Middlebrooks had an efficient season at one of the flagship basket schools in the county. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 14 points per game while shooting 56 percent from the field. Moreover, he shot 50 percent or better from the floor in 15 of 20 games. Against Riviera Prep (24-8), Middlebrooks had 15 points, 5 rebounds and three steals while shooting 6-of-12 from the field. On defense, he totaled 87 rebounds and averaged over two steals per game. Free-throw shooting and more of a prevalent outside shot could be areas to work on. Regardless, his size and overall efficiency is impressive.
Jeremy Arnum – Gulliver Prep
2023 Jeremy Arnum is another player with size at guard. The 6-foot-4 prospect averaged 16.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor. Moreover, he shot 21-of-58 (36 percent) from deep. Against Miami Country Day, Arnum had 19 points and five rebounds while shooting 8-of-14 from the floor. He also scored a season-high 28 points and grabbed eight boards on 12-of-15 from the field (80 percent) against University School (18-11). Overall, Arnum has played well against quality competition
Daniel Ribeiro – Ransom Everglades
2023 Daniel Ribeiro has made a huge jump in three years at Ransom Everglades. The 6-foot-1 guard went from averaging 3.6 points per game as a freshman to 19.7 points per game as a junior. Moreover, Ribeiro increased his 3-point percentage by 11 percent. He made 90 3-pointers at a 42 percent clip from deep this season. Ribeiro shot 50 percent or better from the field in each game he scored 30 or more points. I’ve mention his name before and I think his progression into his senior year is worth the watch.
Jermaine Roper – Kilian
I think you have too look at Jermaine Roper based on Killian’s graduation turnover. The Cougars lose their top four scorers, including Jermaine Wallace (12.7 ppg) and Gabriel Chung (12.3 ppg). Roper averaged 9.1 points while shooting 46 percent from the floor. He also made a solid 46 3-pointers. He could have a big summer and take the reigns of the team next season.
Abalson Cortez – Archbishop Carroll
I will throw a freshman (rising sophomore) in the mix in Abalson Cortez. The point guard averaged 10.3 points per game while hitting 41 3-pointers. Overall, he scored in double-figures in ten games and hit three or more 3-pointers in eight contests. Cortez helped the Bulldogs win 16 games.
