Proving Grounds: Day 2 Standouts (16U)

<h5>The Prep Hoops Circuit had more talent from the Passion Region on display in Tampa. Here’s a look at the Day 2 standouts from 16U play.</h5> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h5>Dillon Costello - 6’3 Forward - PSB Tampa</h5> <p>Costello is quite the versatile forward prospect in the PSB Tampa rotation at 6-foot-3. He showed off his ability to get to the rim and create free-throw opportunities on Day 2 while finishing with 19 points for his squad in one of their victories. As he shows he can knock down free throws, look for his stock to rise.</p> <h5>Nicholas Simes - 6’0 Guard - PSB Tampa</h5> <p>Simes was a standout in the PSB Tampa with his ability to score in traffic. He came up helpful in their backcourt as he put up 15 points, putting constant pressure on opponents with his ability to get to the rim. He’s another under-the-radar name to watch with this group.</p> <h5>Chris Lopez - 5’11 Guard - Sunshine Elite 2024</h5> <p>Lopez was quite the presence on the perimeter for Sunshine Elite 2024 on Day 2 of the Proving Grounds. He showed off his ability to get hot in a hurry with 26 points, scoring on all three levels (18 pts in the 1st half) as a top performer on the day for his squad.</p> <h5>Ilich Yacaman - 5’11 Guard - Sunshine Elite 2024</h5> <p>Yacaman was quite the prospect to watch for Sunshine Elite 2024 as an energy guy that got them going. He’s an active presence on both ends of the floor that showed his ability to make things happen all over the floor. He hustled for loose balls, rebounded on both ends and finished with 19 points in their final game, showing his stroke from the perimeter as well. </p> <h5>Lucean Milligan - 6’0 Guard - Heart N Hustle 2024</h5> <p>Milligan was a name to know in the Heart N Hustle 2024 backcourt. He knocked down six 3-pointers in a nice victory over SWFL Hoops Inc 2024 to take home standout honors with his ability to shoot it with 23 points. He’s a name to keep an eye on with Heart N Hustle 2024.</p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1055760" first="Trey" last="Murray"] - 6’2 Guard - Heart N Hustle 2024</h5> <p>Murray was another name in the Heart N Hustle 2024 backcourt that stood out with his ability to attack the basket. He was quite the downhill threat as he went off for 20 points, 14 points in the second half, to spark his squad to a victory on Day 2. He’s a name to know alongside Milligan in the rotation.</p> <h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1055718" first="Chris" last="Cornish"] - 6’4 Forward - SWFL Hoops Inc. 2024</h5> <p>Cornish is a sizeable name to know after Day 2 of the Proving Grounds. He’s a long, wiry forward that showed off his ability to get to rim in the paint and in the open floor with his ability to handle the ball. He’s a prospect to keep an eye on with SWFL Hoops Inc.</p> <h5>Jaden Wolner - 6’5 Guard/Forward - SWFL Hoops Inc. 2024</h5> <p>Wolner is an intriguing prospect to watch for SWFL Hoops Inc. 2024 with his athleticism and ability to create off the bounce with his length. He was a matchup problem on Day 2 as he averaged 13.0 ppg at the Proving Grounds.
