The Prep Hoops LIVE event tipped off in the Kansas City area on Friday night and we went right to work, covering some of Oklahoma’s more underrated talents. In the 16U division, H&H Elite opened up the tournament with a loss to the Quad City Shockers but their backcourt was outstanding and impressed throughout. The combination of Cade Youngblood, Carson Jones and Tatum Ridge Tatum Ridge 6'2" | CG Edmond North | 2024 State OK will give this team a chance in most games this offseason. In this post, we take a look at each 2024 prospect and see what they do well. And shoutout to Edmond. Coincidentally, all three players are from Edmond schools.
Cade Youngblood – 2024 – Edmond Memorial
While Tatum Ridge Tatum Ridge 6'2" | CG Edmond North | 2024 State OK got off to a hot start, it was Edmond Memorial’s Cade Youngblood who finished strong in the loss on Friday. Youngblood actually led H&H Elite with 15 points and it was pretty easy to figure out what his go to move is on the court. Youngblood had a nasty spin move when he’s driving against a defender. It is so fast and despite looking out of control, Youngblood maintained plenty of touch on his floaters in the lane. It was pretty impressive to watch and it also adds an element to what he can do with the basketball. With that spin move, Youngblood can either finish with the floater or kick it out to an open man. And that open man could be the next prospect below and if he’s open, he’s going to shoot it.
Carson Jones – 2024 – Oklahoma Christian School
Shooters shoot. And Carson Jones had no problem with that on Friday night. I’ve seen Jones a handful of times already this offseason and that’s certainly the main thing he brings to the table. Which is a perfect fit for what H&H Elite is wanting to do within this backcourt. While Youngblood and Ridge are more in the category of playmaking point guards, Jones gives them a reliable threat from beyond the arc. Jones got off to a good start shooting the ball on Friday night. His shot is incredibly smooth and every shot looks nearly identical. He’s still working on his mid-range game and finishing in the paint. But there’s no doubt that he’s on the court to fill it up from beyond the arc.
Tatum Ridge Tatum Ridge 6'2" | CG Edmond North | 2024 State OK – 2024 – Edmond North
Fresh off a state championship in March, Edmond North guard Tatum Ridge Tatum Ridge 6'2" | CG Edmond North | 2024 State OK has gotten off to a good start this offseason. He impressed me as a playmaking point guard in the the OKC tip off event back in early April and he impressed again on Friday evening. Ridge was able to get to the basket at will against Quad City. He finished with either hand and also finished despite plenty of contact. However, that does bring up an area of improvement for Ridge. He was getting to the basket with ease and drew foul after foul. It was not an easy night at the free throw line though and when he improves that area of his game, he’ll become a consistent threat every time he has the ball in his hands.
