The event featured some of the top players from the class of 2022 who not only excel on the court, but off the court in the classroom as well. I was able to attend the event and here’s a quick look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1. Otto Landrum – Torrey Pines (CA)
A Boston University commit, Landrum is a very good off ball player who gets a lot of his scoring opportunities from offensive rebound put backs and from running the floor in transition. He’s active around the rim and a good finisher in the paint. Strong player who can hold his ground defensively. Does a good job dribbling into post position from the midrange area.
2. Aidan Mahaney – Campolindo (CA)
A Saint Mary’s commit, Mahaney is a very good combo guard. He has the playmaking for a one and the scoring ability for a two. He’s a crafty passer and he can find the split the defense and find open teammates in the halfcourt. He’s very comfortable getting his own shot, knocking down threes in transition or drawing fouls attacking the rim. Good catch and shoot player.
3. Rowan Brumbaugh – Northfield Mt Hermon (MA)
A Texas commit, Brumbaugh stood out as a very good point guard. He pushes the pace in transition and looks for open teammates on the break. Good ball handler who dribble under defensive pressure and can shoot pull-up threes. He plays off ball too and runs the break well. Defensively, he plays good transition defense and good on ball in the halfcourt.
4. Dom Campbell – Phillips Exeter (MA)
A Notre Dame commit, Campbell uses his size and strength well to finish in the paint. He gets his buckets playing off ball and making himself available in the paint. He can also make a strong off the dribble move into a post up. Defensively he is a wall in the paint. He breaks up lob passes and contests well. He does have the foot speed too to recover if beat off dribble by a ball handler and meet them at the rim.
