Moreover, Garza went 29-of-75 (39 percent) from the floor. To be fair, his overall shooting percentage might be better given updated information. Garza scored 20 or more points in 20 games. His size and scoring ability is intriguing. In addition, Garza can be a helpful commodity on the glass.
Anthaurio Fredrick – Miami Edison
2022 Anthaurio Fredrick was a prolific scorer this season. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 30.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game while shooting 49 percent from the floor. Fredrick dropped 48 points while shooting 20-of-36 (56 percent) from the field against North Miami Beach. Of note, only two of those field goals were 3-pointers. Overall, Fredrick shot 28 percent from beyond the arc. Continued expansion of his shot to the 3-point line could boost his stock. He did have four-doubles and is a tough rebounder. Fredrick grabbed 42 offensive rebounds.
Carlos Taveras – Miami Southwest
2022 Carlos Taveras is another scorer down in Dade County. The 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 20 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 57 percent from the field. Moreover, Taveras went 30-of-71 (42 percent) from field. All those numbers are highly impressive. Against Miami Palmetto (20-9), Taveras scored 22 points while shooting 9-of-10 from the field. He also had four-doubles. Against North Miami (22-5), Taveras grabbed 14 boards while adding 22 points. As a passer, he recorded 64 assists to 24 turnovers.
Camari Austin – Miami Northwestern
2022 Camari Austin played on a tough Miami Northwestern team under head coach Melvin Randall. The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 16.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 51 percent from the floor. Of note, Austin shot very well on his 2-point field goal attempts. He also made 56 3-pointers. In one matchup against Norland (20-10), he scored 19 points while shooting 3-of-5 from deep. Austin’s size and effectiveness inside the perimeter is impressive. His rebounding ability (92 total) adds value. Austin grabbed six or more boards in eight games.
