As we close the book on another week it is time to empty out the notebook with some player evaluations. Here are some of the players I had the chance to see over the course of the week.

[player_tooltip player_id="868242" first="Anthony" last="Ball"] (Beech Grove H.S. 2023): This 6’7" prospect really, really impressed me on Wednesday night. Ball finished with 21 points in pretty limited action with some big time dunks inside and showed off a soft touch with his back to the basket. He is a Division I prospect just waiting on someone to pull the trigger. Very high ceiling.

Elhadj Diallo (Brownsburg H.S. 2023): It is time to start talking about Brownsburg’s Diallo as an Indiana Junior All-Star candidate. He may still be on the outside looking in of that discussion, but he is worthy of consideration. The 6’3" Diallo is very athletic, can create his own shot off the dribble, and is an above average defender. Someone for coaches at all levels to keep an eye on as the season heads to tournament time.

[player_tooltip player_id="868263" first="Isaac" last="Higgs"] (Evansville Reitz H.S. 2023): Higgs is a physical 6’3" wing that put up a game-high 24 points in an impressive win over Evansville Harrison on Thursday evening. He is very athletic, drives it from the wings well, and continues to improve as an outside shooter. Will be a nice small college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="870244" first="Gavin" last="Schippert"] (Evansville Reitz H.S. 2022): Big, strong 6’5" frame that is tough to move inside. Schippert is very skilled away from the basket as well with a good looking three-point shooting stroke. In the post he scores consistently with his right hand over his left shoulder. Good rebounder on both ends of the floor. Division III coaches need to be recruiting him if they aren’t already.

[player_tooltip player_id="870251" first="E.J." last="Smith"] (Noblesville H.S. 2022): Smith is one of the most talented guards remaining on the board in Indiana’s Class of 2022. Would be a great pick up for a DIII or NAIA program. He is very quick with the ball in his hands and can REALLY shoot it from deep. Projects as a guy who can play on or off the ball at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1297113" first="Shane" last="Sims"] (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025): Sims knocked in five three-pointers on Thursday night trying to keeping Harrison in it against Reitz in the second half. The Warriors came up short, but the freshman showed off his elite shooting prowess. Sims has a very quick release and has already proven to be one of the best catch-and-shoot threats in his class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1168147" first="Jordan" last="Turner"] (Cardinal Ritter H.S. 2022): Turner is an explosive athlete that can make any play you want with the ball in his hands. He has good size in the backcourt at 6’2"-6’3" and the necessary length to have potential on the defensive end. There are a lot of physical tools that make him an intriguing prospect for colleges to take a look at.
