Parke Heritage (26-4) vs. Westview (27-1)

Since the start of this year's state tournament, it has felt like both Parke Heritage and Westview were on a collision course to meet at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in the State Finals—and here we are. These two teams have been among the winningest squads all season long, with somewhat similar postseason paths that led to them earning a shot at a state championship. Westview rolled through semistate play with a convincing 69-48 win over Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, while Parke Heritage punched its ticket with a 66-53 win over Linton-Stockton.

First, looking at the Parke Heritage Wolves, it feels like they have been the favorite to win Class 2A dating all the way back to June of 2025. For Parke Heritage, it all starts with the duo of seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1560965' first='Treigh' last='Schelsky'], [player_tooltip player_id='2272232' first='Isaac' last='Pickel'], and junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2140339' first='Carter' last='Crum']. Not only has this been true in Class 2A, but that trio has arguably been the top “big three” unit in the entire state regardless of class. Combined, they are averaging 40.0 points per game, while also getting contributions from players like [player_tooltip player_id='2560381' first='Joel' last='Miller'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2756991' first='Brenden' last='Goins']. The head of the snake for the Wolves is undoubtedly Schelsky, but what makes Parke Heritage so dangerous is the balance he has around him.

Moving on to the Warriors of Westview, it all starts with junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2622228' first='Austin' last='Schlabach'], who has had a huge breakout campaign in both the regular season and postseason. Schlabach enters this game leading Westview with 19.7 points per game and 5.6 assists, meaning he is not only the Warriors' top scorer but also their primary facilitator. Everything runs through Schlabach, but Westview is also very balanced like Parke Heritage, especially with senior teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2391343' first='Kaden' last='Grau'], who brings 18.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Junior guard Daniel Yoder is also a sneaky X-factor with his 11.7 points per game.

The matchup here will obviously be between Schelsky and Schlabach, but the players around them make this game so intriguing, as both teams have multiple difference-makers who could step up on this stage.

These two teams have been arguably the best in all of Class 2A this season, so it makes perfect sense that they are the last two standing. When you look at the four games taking place in Indianapolis this weekend across all classes, this one may be the most evenly matched in terms of how the teams stack up. Since before the season, Parke Heritage has felt like the team to beat in Class 2A, and they have more than lived up to that hype on their way to the state finals. Westview has had a phenomenal season as well, but this just feels like it is Parke Heritage's game to lose. It should be a hard-fought battle nonetheless.
