SANTA ANA, Ca— Dusty Stromer Dusty Stromer 6'5" | SG Notre Dame | 2023 State #47 Nation CA-S , who is one of the top juniors in the West, was too much for St. Augustine to handle as he dropped in an efficient 20-points while grabbing 8 rebounds. The game was blessed with a plethora of talented underclassmen, including St. Augustine standout junior Jurian Dixon Jurian Dixon 6'4" | SG St. Augustine | 2023 State #247 Nation CA-S and their budding 2024 guard duo of Lawrence Rudolph and Jaden Matingou (pictured). However, Notre Dame received an outstanding performance from Luke Rishwain as he dropped in 18-points.
Best All-Around
Dusty Stromer Dusty Stromer 6'5" | SG Notre Dame | 2023 State #47 Nation CA-S (SO Notre Dame)
2023, G, 6-foot-6, 175 pounds
Joel’s Take: Stromer had one of the best all-around performances at the Nike Extravaganza. He impacted the game at both ends due to his offensive acumen and defensive prowess. He scored an ultra-efficient 20-points (9-of-13 fga) and impacted the defensive end with his 3-blocks and 3-steals. The willowy Stromer had his smooth jump shot going as well as his uncanny ability to get to the basket.
Sharp Shooter
Luke Rishwain (SO Notre Dame)
2022, G, 5-foot-10, 155 pounds
Joel’s Take: The unsung hero for Notre Dame was definitely Rishwain. The feisty Rishwain has a bevy of moxie and a feathery jump shot. He moves very well without the ball, knows how to get open off of screens and he sets himself up well for his shot. His release is quick and he’s always on balance when launching his shot as demonstrated by his efficiency (6-of-11 fga and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc).
Intriguing Point Guard
Jaden Matingou Jaden Matingou 6'3" | CG St. Augustine | 2023 State CA-S (St. Augustine)
2023, G, 6-foot-3, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: Matingou is a lengthy point guard prospect who possesses all the athleticism to be a D1 guard. He wasn’t overly efficient (4-of-10 fga and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc). However, his 1st step is very quick and he can slash with the best of them. He is also a quick leaper as he snagged 5-rebounds and was very active at both ends of the floor.
A jump shot away
Lawrence Rudolph (St. Augustine)
2024, PG, 6-foot-2, 170 pounds
Joel’s Take: Rudolph didn’t put together an eye-popping stat sheet, but you can see his budding talent. He has the frame, speed, and strength to be recruited at the D1 level. He can snag a rebound and push the break and he puts significant pressure on opposing defenses. Defensively, he has terrific instincts and quick hands as exhibited by his five steals.
