MLK I Have a Dream Challenge: Standouts

<p>The MLK I Have a Dream Challenge took place this past Friday-Monday at Somerset Academy Pines. The 29-team field featured some great games and players across South Florida. Please reach out to me at my socials regarding any player news or information.</p> <p>Here are some standouts...</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1065431" first="Michael" last="Kalina"] - North Broward Prep</p> <p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1065431" first="Michael" last="Kalina"] scored 20 points in Monday’s victory over Riviera Prep. The 6-foot-1 point guard has done a great job this season after moving over from Boca Raton. Kalina has solid quickness from the 3-point line to the basket. He is fluid with the ball and can finish with either hand. Kalina is a much better athlete than some might give him credit for. Per information, he is averaging 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 48 percent from the field. Most importantly, North Broward Prep is 17-0 with him as its floor general. Worth noting that the Eagles continue to win without 2023 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1060261" first="Guilherme" last="Tesch"]</strong>.  Imagine when he comes back?</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1301705" first="Alexander" last="Lloyd"] - Westminster Academy</p> <p>Good things happen when 2025 [player_tooltip player_id="1301705" first="Alexander" last="Lloyd"] touches the ball. The 6-foot-4 guard scored 32 points in Saturday’s win over Mater Lakes Academy. Lloyd is an elite scorer and playmaker from all levels. His athleticism and basketball skill is a cut above most players in his class. Essentially, Lloyd plays at another notch in the open floor. Fellow 2025 Gustavo Guimaraes scored 14 points Friday against St. Thomas Aquinas. The 6-foot-10 forward is fairly nimble for his size and developing a nice offensive game. His natural frame and length is already a bonus on defense.</p> <p>Zakaih Saez - St. Thomas Aquinas</p> <p>2023 Zakaih Saez scored 16 points in the Raiders’ victory over Miami Palmetto. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound forward brings a nice element of size and quickness in and around the basket. Saez moves well and shows good footwork. Combine that with his natural power and Aquinas has a nice forward. Furthermore, Saez’s ability to maneuver his body in motion is impressive. It probably helps that he’s a dominant football player in the fall for STA.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="955766" first="Jaiden" last="Miller"] - Somerset Prep North Lauderdale</p> <p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="955766" first="Jaiden" last="Miller"] is a nice mid-range shooter for the Hurricanes. The 6-foot point guard scored 17 points in a 1-point loss to Miami Palmetto. Miller has good bounce and showed ability to attack the rim. On the flip side, he defends his position well thanks to his athleticism and floor vision.
