With the non-league season in full bloom, we found standout players who we thought played well in helping their teams to victories. Here’s our list of top performers from the past week.
Jacob Bannarbie 6’9 F/C of Valley Christian HS San Jose. 2023
It was our first look at Bannarbie. The transfer from San Diego who made his season debut up on the hill at Valley Christian. The first thing that jumped out to us was his size, and strength. He’s a legitimate college body athlete. He is or will be a player who attracts a lot of attention while he’s on the court. He did most of his damage in the post area, using balanced spin moves, and a jump hook that went in. He’s capable of doing things away from the basket. In his first game he scored 21pts, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 4 dunks. He’s a game changer, we’ll see more of him.
Nick Corbett 6’6 F/C of Bellarmine College Prep HS San Jose 2024
Corbett a 2 sport athlete (football) looks to be the centerpiece of this Bell team. He put together a big mans performance in leading the Bells to an impressive victory over a previously unbeaten team last week. No flash just results. He’s not fast but has good balance and moves with a purpose. He used his body, and a 2 dribble to back down to score on defenders. His turnaround jumper in the key was falling, and he passed and screened well throughout the contest. He’ll defend his post area. He scored 13pts, and added 11 rebounds.
Jaxon Moore 6’5 F of Santa Teresa HS San Jose 2023
Moore the physical 2 sport athlete (football) put together a solid performance in leading his team to a victory last week. He plays hard and with good energy. He’s aggressive going after rebounds and works hard for points in the paint. He knocked down a couple of 3-Ptrs from the perimeter. He can hit the elbow jumper, and has a nice spin move going to the basket. He scored 28pts.
Sean Crowley 6’5 F of Pioneer HS san Jose 2022
Crowley is becoming one of the more consistent players for his team. He’s steadily improved his play on the court, and has expanded his skill set. He handles the ball more to relieve ball pressure. He’s added a 3-pt shot to his game which makes him a reliable inside/out threat, and he’s a quality passer and screener who’ll will work to rebound and defend the other teams big. He scored 24pts, 9 rebounds.
Jacob Kuverji 6’3 W/F of Leland HS San Jose. 2022
Kuverji has been one of the top performers on his team in non-league play. He’s an undersized post player on this team, but he has some guard skills. Overall he’s a smart player with a decent game. He’s a good passer, with good foot work and a nice touch to finish around the basket. He can hit the 12ft jumper. In a game this past week he went for a double-double scoring 20pts and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead his team 5-0 to another win.
