There’s good talent that will develop and improve as the season progresses. In the Five game match ups, we saw two 2025’s start and another came off the bench to be key contributors at this event.
Jalai Rancher 6’7 2024 Forward of Skyline HS.
Rancher has good size to go with some post presence as he is still a bit raw. He’ll need to bulk up a bit for the physical play that goes on in the paint. Nonetheless, he was an active player who went after blocks, and rebounds, he scored on put backs. His up and under move worked well for him. He scored 7pts, 7rebs, 3blks.
Emil Leventhal 6’0 2024 Guard of Albany HS.
Leventhal has a good shot from behind the 3-point line. He was good on the catch and shoot, moving well without the ball, and using screens and cuts to get himself open in the corner, and wings for 3’s. He has good form and a quick release. He nailed six 3-Ptrs to finish the game 20pts total. He had the most 3’s at this event.
Mykel Patton 6’0 2025 Point guard of Sacred Heart Cathedral HS.
The Freshman point had his share of mistakes, but he didn’t let it effect his game. He’s a speedy guard with good handles, and confidence to play at this level. He ran point for a young team missing key players from football. He’ll push fast in open court, pass it up or attack using his quickness going to the basket. We’ll keep an eye on him. He had 12 pts and one 3-Ptr.
Fredrick Pernell 6’0 2024 Guard of Sacred Heart Cathedral HS.
Purnell played a good all-around game at this event. He spent time at the point showing good patience and decision making. He also worked off the ball showing us he could attack from the wings. He scored on a nice pull-up jumper in the key, a floater, and dropped a few corner 3’s on the catch and shoot. 8pts.
Kellen Hampton 6’6 2025 Wing of Moreau Catholic HS
Hampton standing 6’6 and will probably add a few more inches over time. He started, but struggled a bit to get things going. Nonetheless he’ll be a solid Freshman and will contribute to this team. He has a decent shot from 3 in the corner and wings. He handles the ball and is comfortable playing on the perimeter. He has the size to rebound and defend bigger players.
Dallas Washington 6’7 2025 Guard of St. Francis HS.
Washington a long wiry player. The Freshman is adjusting to his role of coming off the bench in the early season. He’s on a quality team that is expected to compete for a title in the tough WCAL this season. He has good length to close out on the perimeter, size to help with the rebounding, and he goes at the rim pretty well from the baseline. He has other skills that will come out as he navigates his first year of high school on the Varsity.
