Originally scheduled to have 8 teams, they had two drop out but still featured some very talented teams and players in the event.
Here’s a look at part one of the standouts from day two of the event.
Stefan Marcelle Stefan Marcelle 6'7" | C Georgetown Prep | 2022 State MD | 6’7” F | Georgetown Prep 2022
Marcelle was huge for Prep as they came back from a 10 point deficit at half to beat Carmel School in the first game, and his high motor and athleticism brought great energy to his team along with his production level. He’s a versatile forward who can play inside-out, he rebounds well in and out of his area and he can play above the rim and finishes well through contact. He finished with a game high 19 points, taking over in the second half.
Bryce Sewell Bryce Sewell 5'9" | PG Georgetown Prep | 2022 State MD | 5’10” PG | Georgetown Prep 2022
Sewell didn’t put up big numbers in this one, but the grit and toughness the Randolph-Macon commit showed helped will his team to the comeback victory. The floor general suffered a painful ankle injury in the beginning of the third quarter, but he taped up and gutted it out and returned to help run the show and continued to set the tone on both ends of the floor. Him returning from the injury showed great leadership and helped will his team to the win.
Khani Rooths Khani Rooths 6'7" | SF IMG Academy | 2024 State #16 Nation FL | 6’7” WF | Georgetown Prep 2024
Rooths is considered one of the top young prospects in the DMV and on the east coast, and he showed a lot of the tools that make him that as he went for 17 points in the win. He has a great frame and is long and a good athlete, he thrives in transition where he can use his size and athleticism to finish at the rim and in the half court he can put it on the deck and get to spots and score it from multiple levels. He has all the tools to be a very good two way player.
Reuben McEachern | 5’11” PG | Carmel School 2023
Carmel has played a very tough schedule so far this season, and McEachern has been the floor general and leader for them through all of it. The 5’11” guard is gritty and tough, he has good quickness and is very shifty off the bounce and he sets the tone on both ends of the floor. He’s really stepped up as the go-to guy, and finished with 15 points in their loss to Georgetown Prep.
Christian Brown | 6’3” WF | Carmel School 2023
Brown is a relatively new name that came on during the fall, and he continues to show a lot of potential as a two way wing. He’s a good athlete that can sit down and guard the basketball, he’s excellent in transition and can attack in straight lines and he’s shown improvement in his shot making ability too.
