Looking for a breakout junior campaign in 2021-22 is [player_tooltip player_id="1256624" first="Sawyer" last="Wolf"]. The strong 6-foot-3, 185-pound swingman cut his teeth on varsity last year during the short season but wanted to make the next step in his development. Wolf recently showed off his stuff at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo, much of it thanks to the summer season he had playing with Northwest Reign 16U.

"It was a ton of fun," Wolf said. "We all have a good relationship and we’ve all played with each other for a long time and our chemistry is what really helped us. In the summer in July we went like 20-4. We just all got better and had a lot of confidence in each other."

Individually, Wolf appreciated the opportunity to really work on and step up with his game. "Through (Coach) Matt Conboy, he had a lot of confidence in me to play the way that I did over the summer," Wolf said. "I shot the ball well and made my teammates better. My shooting - during the high school season at Tigard, that was the one thing that kept me in the game, to be able to hit shots when we needed to. So I just built that over the summer and also worked on driving and kicking."

At the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo, we were really impressed with Wolf’s ability to make plays. He’s a solid shooter but also has the ball skills and strength to get to the basket where he can either finish or get it to the open man. Playing both on and off the ball, Wolf would size up his opponent to calculate his next move, and then execute.

Wolf is just getting on the radar when it comes to college recruiting, but the high-academic student with a 3.7 GPA and an interest in finance is keeping things wide open.

"I’m looking at any school that would give me a chance, really," Wolf said. "I just want to play at the next level. But I definitely want somewhere with good academics - that’s always something that’s been high for me. Academics and sports are my two main focuses."

His immediate sub-focus now of course is the upcoming year where he’s excited to re-join his Tigers brothers. "I think we’re going to be good," Wolf said. "I think we’re going to be underrated. We’re lacking a little size but between Kalim (Brown), Malik (Brown), Douglas (Bailey) and I - if one team scores 70 I think we’re going to score 80 on them."

Wolf currently ranks as the #49 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2023 rankings.
