Burlington Christian Academy: Josiah Watkins Josiah Watkins 6'3" | PG Piedmont Classical | 2023 State NC (2023) & Brock Matheny Brock Matheny 5'11" | SG Burlington Christian Academy | 2022 State NC (2022)
Watkins is a lead guard that can do-it-all on both ends of the floor at 6-foot-3. He uses his athleticism and length well to make things happen as a shooter and playmaker and rebounds in bunches. He’ll have to lead the way in 2021-22 with the departure of Brock Williams (High Point) but he’ll have a threat on the perimeter to rely on in Brock Matheny Brock Matheny 5'11" | SG Burlington Christian Academy | 2022 State NC . Matheny is a shooter that, while streaky, is an instant threat when he finds his rhythm. He’s due for a strong senior campaign.
The Burlington School: Shane Peterson Shane Peterson 6'0" | CG The Burlington School | 2022 State NC (2022) & Kobe George Kobe George 6'3" | PG Winston-Salem Christian | 2023 #213 Nation NC & Zion Walker Zion Walker 6'2" | PG The Burlington School | 2024 State NC (2024s)
George, Peterson and Walker return looking to lead the Spartans to another 2A NCISAA State title after winning the championship in 2020-21. They’ll be a tough trio to stop once again with Peterson being the sharpshooting perimeter threat, Walker being a versatile two-way presence and George being their floor general and playmaker in 2021-22. George holds offers High Point, East Carolina, Wake Forest, Elon, ODU, Coastal Carolina, Rice and North Carolina A&T. Walker holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Coastal Carolina and North Carolina A&T. Look for Peterson to make waves as one of the more underrated shooters in the 2022 class.
Northside Christian Academy: Wesley Tubbs III Wesley Tubbs III 6'5" | SF TSF Prep | 2023 GA (2023) & Daniel Lubamba Daniel Lubamba 6'5" | SF Northside Christian Academy | 2022 State NC (2022)
Tubbs is an underrated 6-foot-7 guard/wing prospect with a ton of room to grow as a scorer, rebounder, playmaker and defender in the Northside Christian Academy rotation after a productive sophomore season. He produced a few triple-doubles while showing off his ability to knock down shots all over the floor. He holds offers from South Carolina, Providence, Wake Forest, Cincinnati and a few other D1 programs. With a bigger role on the horizon, Lubamba has a chance to show he can score the ball getting to the rim and off the bounce. He’s already quite the defender that uses his 6-foot-5 length well to defend multiple positions.
Gaston Day: Chris Britt Chris Britt 5'10" | PG Ashbrook | 2022 State NC (2022) & Evan Montanari Evan Montanari 6'2" | SG Gaston Day | 2023 State NC & Colin Fayed Colin Fayed 6'1" | SG Gaston Day | 2023 State NC (2023s)
Don’t sleep on Gaston Day as they’re a club with a deep backcourt with a ton of promise in Britt, Montanari and Fayed. Britt returns with some additions in the lineup. Montanari and Fayed are equally troublesome given their ability to play off the ball and get open on the perimeter. They’re two fearless, underrated guards that should turn heads in 2021-22 given what they can do on the floor. This trio of guards will be exciting to watch this season.
Trinity Academy (Raleigh): Noah Ross Noah Ross 6'6" | SG Trinity Academy (Raleigh) | 2022 State NC (2022) & Kevon Vanderhorst Kevon Vanderhorst 6'1" | PG Trinity Academy (Raleigh) | 2023 State NC (2023)
Ross (UNC-W commit) is set to go out with a bang after he and Vanderhorst came up short in last year’s state playoffs. Vanderhorst is set to show his development as a more aggressive scorer and playmaker at the point guard spot. He’s an underrated athletic guard with room to grow in the 2023 class. He holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Florida International, NC A&T and St. Peter’s.
