The Minneapolis City Conference has belonged to Minneapolis North for some years now. Could that be changing? North is still leading the way but these year there will certainly be challengers.

Conference Commentary

Top Ten: North

The North Polars are one of three Class AA teams who I would call serious, serious title contenders. With [player_tooltip player_id="850709" first="Willie" last="Wilson"] and a veteran backcourt coming back, with [player_tooltip player_id="958665" first="Jacob" last="Butler"] at forward, an assortment of power players around the basket, and some youth, North is a Class AA title contender.

Top Ten Potential: South

South is in Class AAAA and cracking the top ten at that level is tough for a young squad. That said, this is a very talented young squad and a couple big wins could vault them into that spot. South has players at every spot and they will contend with North.

Compete with Most: Southwest, Washburn, Edison, Henry

Southwest is the third team I feel could contend for the City Conference championship. They have three really good wings and forwards that will play college basketball and could possibly bring home the conference title. With a series of good wins maybe they crack a top ten but I think they will be more in the area of a top four/five section team. Washburn will give teams some runs and be much improved from their 3-9 record of a year ago. Edison is one that will be a bit of an uncertainty but you can expect them to be a tough team to play. They lost their top three guys but have some good players ready to step into those top roles plus a nice culture is starting to emerge there. Henry has some veterans returning that should make them tough to beat.

Rebuilding: Roosevelt

There have been a few rough years at Roosevelt and at the moment it looks like it could be another rough one.
