Coach Lonnie Diggs and the Mighty Elephants of Math, Civics, and Science are ramping up for a run at the Philly Public League title and a state championship. Nisine "Wooga" Poplar is off to Miami, but this group is has even more talent and experience than last year.

Jah is no doubt the best passer in the area. Because he has a good handle and feel for the game, he can find his way to the rim whenever and drop the ball off to a teammate or finish with a little English off the glass. A number of schools are recruiting him to run their show.

[player_tooltip player_id="1283975" first="Hadir" last="Boswell"] | 6’4 F 2022

A transfer from Bonner-Prendie, Hadir adds a versatile skillset to Coach Diggs’s arsenal. He communicates well on defense and has a strong upper body to play the four next to Crawley Jr or sub for him at the five spot. The range on his jumper has increased since last season and will provide more spacing. Boswell is currently being recruited by Delaware Valley and other D3s.

[player_tooltip player_id="991199" first="Khalif" last="Crawley"] Jr | 6’8 F/C 2022

He packs a punch inside and he’s going to help the Elephants throw jabs this season as they make a run at reclaiming the Philadelphia Public League championship. Deuce’s ability to rebound and keep plays alive will be imperative for them. He plans to commit on October 10th.

[player_tooltip player_id="991322" first="Trent" last="Middleton"] Jr | 6’3 G 2022

Middleton Jr can be the knockout punch for MCS this season. As the other sure piece in their starting backcourt, his play-finishing and secondary playmaking will go a long way for MCS. Their leading returning scorer, expect Trent to up his three point volume as he steps into the top spot. D2s are showing interest and will have to pull the trigger on him soon before bigger schools get involved.

Darryon Prescott | 7’0 C 2022

Prescott is scary when he runs the floor and rolls hard to the rim. He’ll either start at the five or be a significant rotational piece for Coach Diggs. Still relatively new to organized basketball, Darryon is going to have a major impact in the paint for the Mighty Elephants.

[player_tooltip player_id="1186043" first="Nayeem" last="Johnson"] | 6’2 G 2023

Johnson is one of at least two players fighting for that third guard spot. With his ability to create for himself, Nayeem will come into his own as a junior, then play an even larger role as a senior.

[player_tooltip player_id="1185954" first="Chauncey" last="Presley"] | 6’1 G 2023

Presley is coming off a minor injury but averaged 9 points off the bench as a sophomore. So he’s in the mix for that starting spot with Johnson. Nevertheless, he’s going to add a scoring punch this season before being handed the keys with his classmate next year.

Other MCS Contributors:

Mohamed Sesay | 6’1 G 2023

Isaiah Griffin | 6’3 G/F 2023
