Lexington Catholic Showcase News and Notes

In this article:
I was able to catch a handful of summer games at Lexington Catholic yesterday. I only saw 3 sets of games so if your team played before 5:45 or after 8:00, I didn’t see them. There are games all day today and tomorrow as well if you’re looking to catch some summer ball.
News and Notes:
Perhaps the most surprising thing was that

, Robinson will add some rebounding and toughness for the Panthers and makes them a strong contender (maybe the favorite?) in the 6th region next season.
Speaking of PRP, they beat Lexington Catholic by 20+ in the first game I was able to watch. They have a lot of good pieces as McCown, Robinson, Vic Lado and Lavonte Harris Lavonte Harris 6'6" | PF Pleasure Ridge Park | 2022 State KY all have a chance to be scholarship level players in college. They’ll be fun to watch and they score a lot of points.
Lexington Catholic looked a little lost without

gives Catholic a bit of a twin towers look but their guards and wings struggled with ball pressure from the PRP guards. No need to worry because it’s just summer ball, but PRP is built a lot like Dunbar and Douglass that the Knights will have to beat to win the 11th region.
In order for anyone to win the 11th region, they’ll have to go through Madison Central. The reigning champs showed up with

looked really good in stretches. He’s bulking up a little bit and his ball handling has improved. As long as there are enough shots to keep everyone happy, Central will be a tough out in March.
You can’t talk about transfers without talking about George Rogers Clark. New Cardinals

was looking to push the pace whenever he was in. This is another team that should be expected to make a deep run in March as long as there are enough shots to go around.
Lincoln County has their own impact transfer in Will Bishop but he’s still several months away from returning from foot surgery. As a result, the Patriots were very small. Jaxon Smith Jaxon Smith 6'2" | PG Lincoln County | 2022 State KY was able to get to the rim repeatedly and attacked Madison Central hard when they would switch ball screens. Look for Smith to be in the discussion as top player in the 12th this season.
The last team I was able to see was Perry County Central. Sophomore Rydge Beverly Rydge Beverly 5'9" | PG Perry County Central | 2025 State KY looks like his cousin Braxton and plays a similar game. Beverly has the ball on a string and excellent footwork to go along with solid shooting ability. The GRC trapping really gave PCC issues but they would have been right in the game if their shots had fallen early on.
