Continue ReadingPH was at a CCS DII quarterfinals contest between 3 seed Hillsdale, and 6 seed Wilcox. It was a lively contest with both teams bringing lots of energy, and hustle. Wilcox was up by as much as 10 points in the first half leading by 8 at halftime. Hillsdale made some adjustments and put together a solid run to get the game close, by the end of the third quarter 46-43. In the end Wilcox had good defense and was disciplined in running their offense down the stretch to knock off Hillsdale 60-56, and move on to the next round. Standouts for the game.
Isaiah Frazier 6’0 CG of Wilcox. 2021
The multi positional Frazier was a big factor in leading Wilcox to the win. He’s a physical guard who consistently made his way into the paint, collapsing the defense, and making the right decision whether, to shoot or find open teammates. He showed good patience running the teams offense at critical points in the game. His ability to guard the other teams best player in the 4th quarter was notable. 20pts, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2stls, three 3’s.
Calvin Mader-Clark 6’5 G/W of Hillsdale. 2022
A heady player with a good understanding of the game. He has a good shot from behind the 3pt line, as well as a nice pull up jumper along the baseline. He’s a willing passer, who sees the court, and will find cutting teammates. His handles can use some polishing, but he did show he’s up for the challenge of handling the ball up top. In the 4th quarter the ball was in his hands. 13pts, 3 rebounds.
Deandel Laureta 5’8 PG of Wilcox. 2021
He was a key contributor to his teams victory. He applied constant ball pressure on Hillsdale’s ball handlers, making it tough to get into offensive sets, making it hard to make direct passes. His foot, and hand speed caused multiple turnovers throughout the game. 11 pts, 3stls.
Jordan Hauser 6’0 Guard of Hillsdale. 2022
Hauser was good in the open court using his euro, and other moves to get his shot off. He has a good jump shot out to the 3 point line, and was working hard on the defensive end throughout the game. He plays fast, and hard. 12 pts, two 3’s.
Alex Peralta 5’10 Senior guard. Wilcox 2021
Peralta put constant pressure on the defense. The lefty didn’t mind the physical contact at all. He took it hard to the basket whenever the opportunity arose. He was aggressive on both ends of the court. He helped with the team rebounding, and was solid on the defensive end. 10pts, 4 rebounds.
Kaelin Powell 6’4 Forward of Hillsdale 2022
Powell still kind of raw showed good determination working in the post area. He’s a strong bodied player who’s going to improve his game. He had good inside play at times, he made good passes. He was aggressive going after rebounds, and put backs. He’ll have to convert his shot opportunities around the basket. 8 points, 10 rebounds.
Oliver Crank 6’2 G/W of Hillsdale 2021
Crank was aggressive the whole game. He plays on go, on both ends of the court. He goes after loose balls, sprints hard in transition, and will help his team on the boards. His aggressiveness on defense was kind of annoying to the other team. He was a solid contributor off the bench. 9pts.
