Hosted by recruiting legend Dinos Trigonis, the camp featured over 80 of the top prospects in the country. Several players caught my attention with impressive performances. Here’s some of my notes from Pangos AA Camp.
“The Legend of Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT “
Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT 6’4 PG Farmington, UT 2022 (#3PHU 2022) – Went from an underrated combo guard, to a stockrising, athletic playmaking PG. Has a terrific feel for the game, but it’s his other worldly athleticism wrapped around a versatile skill set, that left scouts salivating. The Utah Floor General, showed great vision, good touch on his passes and the ability to seemingly hang in the air. Chandler, put a lot of peopel on notice with his play this weekend.
“The growth of Udeh”
Ernest Udeh Ernest Udeh 6'10" | C Dr. Phillips | 2022 State #48 Nation FL 6’10 C Orlando, FL 2022 (#14PHF 2022) – Last time I saw Udeh, it was two years ago, he was about 6’6 and I remember everyone saying, “He has to get to 6’10”. Be careful what you wish for. The 6’10 5 man plays with a high motor, is skilled with his back to the basket, and plays with a chip on his shoulder seldom seen in high major bigs.
“Who is Javonte Taylor”
Javonte Taylor 6’8 PF 2023 (#1PHIL 2023) – If you’ve never heard about Taylor, he’s going to make sure you hear the rim snapping. The 6’8 skilled 4 man was all over the rim at Pangos, displaying jaw dropping athleticism. Every now and then he would make a play (like a ridiculous bounce pass assist in the Top 30 game) to remind you that he’s got skill to go with that bounce.
“A Bona(fide) star”
Adem Bona 6’10 C Prolific Prep 2022 – There were a ton of good big men at the camp, Bona was definitely one of the best. Showed good fundamentals and hands, with his ability to play P&R basketball, catch and finish. His motor will never be in question, evident by his chase down block, rim run dunk sequence.
“Keeping it Live(ly)”
Dereck Lively 7’1 C Bellefonte, PA 2022 (#1PHP 2022) – Players at Pangos, quickly learned that there were a lot easier ways to make a living than challenging Lively. The 7 footer with the 100 inch wingspan, seemingly blocked everything. He’s a lean fluid athlete, however his reach made it almost impossible for opponents to get their shots off over him. An active. athlete that was good at grabbing in and out of area boards, Lively was dominant on the defensive end.
