One. Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN ’s day one calls were that of the top 25 level national prospect that he is. Louisville and Nebraska were added to the offer list. Minnesota made their first call to Taison at Midnight. Arkansas immediately followed. Kentucky, Ohio State, UCLA, UConn, Memphis, Oklahoma State, and a number of others also called.
Two. Minnesota worked the late night phone. New Gopher Head Coach Ben Johnson is looking to lock this state down so the calls immediately went out to Taison, Nolan Winter Nolan Winter 7'0" | PF Lakeville North | 2023 State #98 Nation MN , Jack Janicki Jack Janicki 6'4" | SG White Bear Lake | 2023 State #277 Nation MN , Patrick Bath, CJ O’Hara CJ O’Hara 6'4" | SF Park Center | 2023 State #285 Nation MN , Chiddi Obiazor, Tommy Humphries Tommy Humphries 6'5" | SF Totino-Grace | 2023 State #283 Nation MN , and Owen Leach Owen Leach 6'6" | SF Dillworth Glyndon-Felton | 2023 State MN .
Three. Offers! Cal Poly extended scholarship offers to Patrick Bath and CJ O’Hara CJ O’Hara 6'4" | SF Park Center | 2023 State #285 Nation MN while Siena offered Bath, O’Hara, and Tommy Humphries Tommy Humphries 6'5" | SF Totino-Grace | 2023 State #283 Nation MN scholarships. All of these players play for Totino-Grace.
Four. Nolan Winter Nolan Winter 7'0" | PF Lakeville North | 2023 State #98 Nation MN has the look of a top 150 kid on the court, and with the calls coming in. The 6-foot-9 Lakeville North forward immediately heard from Minnesota who recently offered plus Utah, Iowa, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Purdue, and Iowa State.
Five. Appalachian State went down the list! Obviously Appalachian State has some interest in recruiting this state because their name popped up on the list of about 13-14 different players. They are expected to be at the MBCA camp this weekend.
Six. Jack Janicki Jack Janicki 6'4" | SG White Bear Lake | 2023 State #277 Nation MN is a top 2-4 kid in this class and the schools that called represented the list of one of the better players in the class. Minnesota, Utah, Iowa, Iowa State, Davidson, Northern Iowa, and Harvard were among the many calls he took.
Seven. What big are schools seemingly looking at the most right now? That has to be Patrick Bath. He heard from Air Force, Appalachian State, Cal Poly (offer), George Washington, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota State, Oklahoma State, and Siena (offer) yesterday.
Eight. The guy who I think could blow up as a prospect very soon is Chiddi Obiazor. I only heard form Chiddi once yesterday but it was a call from the Gopher basketball team. He’s also hearing from the Gopher football team. I expect a massive list of both football and basketball schools to connect with him.
Nine. CJ O’Hara CJ O’Hara 6'4" | SF Park Center | 2023 State #285 Nation MN . When our Prep Hoops national basketball rankings are released very soon CJ will be in that top 250 along with likely four other Minnesota kids. CJ took calls/messages from Minnesota, Cal Poly (offer), Dayton, Iowa State, Creighton, Butler, Siena (offer), Nebraska, Oklahoma State, South Dakota, Florida, Southern Illinois, Appalachian State, and George Washington.
Ten. Who would I have called? Ibrahim El-Amin Ibrahim El-Amin 5'10" | PG Minnetonka | 2023 State MN . This young point guard has as good of a feel for the game as you will see. His control of pace and intelligence (and patience) in playmaking is something that is a joy to watch. He didn’t play varsity this winter but when people see him play this summer they will be impressed.
