Jordan Cain of D1 Minnesota – Williams (6’1 Guard, Minnetonka 2024). Jordan showed flashes of his sky-high potential on Sunday. The freshman guard and his 15U team played up at the 16U level at the Fury Shootout, that did not stop him at all. He showcased his lock down defense, recording numerous steals that led to dunks on the other end. Jordan excelled in all categories on both sides of the ball. The Minnetonka prospect will add to a deep Skipper back court alongside his brother Jalen Cain Jalen Cain 6'3" | SF Minnetonka | 2023 State MN and many others.
Max Shikenjanski Max Shikenjanski 6'2" | PG Stillwater | 2023 State #288 Nation MN of Minnesota Fury – Antl (6’3 Guard, Stillwater 2023). One of the top shot creators in the state already, Max averaged 24.2 PPG as a sophomore facing tough competition every game. This weekend, he shot it from beyond the arc and took it to the paint with some impressive finishes as well. Max is not just a scorer either, he was pickpocketing opponents and setting his teammates up with wide open looks all day. He took over after an early deficit in their last game of the day, doing whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted.
JT Thornton of WOTN – Bertsch (6’3 Guard, Lakeville North 2023). JT has impressed me all spring. The main ball handler for a solid WOTN 16U team who have been competing with top programs all season, he possesses a great feel for the game and basketball IQ. Nobody could stop him from attacking and making plays with his vision and finishing package around the rim. I could see JT being a diamond in the rough for Lakeville North for his next two seasons there. Be on the lookout for a breakout junior year.
Hayden Tibbits Hayden Tibbits 5'11" | PG Wayzata | 2023 State MN of Minnesota Fury – Antl (5’10 Guard, Wayzata 2023). Hayden is the definition of reliable. A steady ball handler who can control the pace of the game and break the press. Also, he has an underrated scoring game. He can get to the rim by using his size to his advantage for maneuvering around defenders. Hayden can shoot too, he has the ability to create his own shot beyond the three point line or in the mid-range game. Look for him to take on a larger role next season with the reigning AAAA champs in Wayzata with some key seniors graduating.
Maxwell Woods of Minnesota Fury – Zurn (5’10 Guard, Chanhassen 2024). Max showed out as the floor general for an impressive 15U Fury team. The 5’10” point guard has lightning quick speed and was taking defenders off the dribble all day. With that, he could finish with an acrobatic layup or dish it to a teammate for an open look. What impressed me the most about Max’s game was his on-ball defense, he has a knack to poke balls loose and cause turnovers or force opposing ball handlers to pick up their dribble. Look for him to make an impact for Chanhassen at the varsity level next season.
Soren Richardson of WOTN – Bertsch (6’2 Wing, Northfield 2023). The best shooter that I saw from the Fury Shootout, Soren Richardson. The sophomore wing showed off his three point stroke off the dribble or from catch and shoot. Soren was hitting off-balance shot after off-balance shot in their second game of the day vs D1 Minnesota. He also holds a solid post game where he was kicking out to teammates or hitting fadeaway jumpers. Richardson was a starter last season for a .500 AAAA program in Northfield.
Asher Zubich Asher Zubich 6'1" | PG Mountain Iron-Buhl | 2023 State MN of Starks Elite 16U (6’1 Guard, Mountain Iron-Buhl 2023). Already one of the best out-state players in Minnesota, Asher averaged 26.5 PPG during his sophomore campaign. How he did this you might ask, he can shoot it from anywhere passed half court. Defenders needed to pick him up at NBA range all day. He showed off an impressive inside game driving to the hoop to add onto his elite range. The MIB guard looked very comfortable and confident with the ball in his hands being the lead scorer for Starks Elite . Asher’s career-high is 61 points which came in his freshman season vs Mesabi East.
