Continue ReadingThe Prep Hoops MD/DC team was posted up at Spooky Nook this past weekend for the Hoop Group Spring Jam Fest. I was able to get my eyes on prospects from three different age groups. In this piece I take a look at five of the top performers from the 2024 class that were in attendance.
Daquan Davis Daquan Davis 6'1" | PG Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #119 Nation GA | 6’0 | Team Thrill
There has been a good amount of talk about Davis as he just finished his first high season with St. Frances and I was fortunate enough to see him live for the first time this past weekend. Davis will be one of the next stars to come out of St. Frances. Davis’ defense is what stands out right away as he is a tenacious on the ball defender. Davis is lining up to be one of the top point guards in the local 2024 class.
Matt Gilhool | 6’9 | Philly Pride
Gilhool did not have the best weekend stat wise but the upside and potential has to be talked about due to his size standing at 6’9. He is already finishing above the rim with ease and tries to whenever he has the opportunity. Gilhool also does a good job of controlling the ball with his hands down low.
Del Jones | 6’0 | Team Thrill
Jones is another prospect that stood out this past winter and he carried that over to him this past weekend helping lead Team Thrill to the championship game in the 15 and under bracket. Jones is instant offense for his team and hit multiple shots from deep in my viewing of him.
Fazl Oshodi | 6’2 | Philly Pride
Oshodi is up near the top of the list for top defenders I saw all weekend regardless of class. Oshodi can guard multiple positions and does a good job of staying in front of his defender without fouling. Oshodi played a major part in the success of the Philly Pride.
Ryan Williams Ryan Williams 6'3" | SG Malvern Prep | 2024 State PA | 6’1 | Philly Pride
Williams was one of the top shooters from the class of 2024 I saw this past weekend at the Hoop Group Spring Jam. Williams has a pure stroke and was a reliable piece of offense for Philly Pride throughout the weekend.
